A/N Hi, Thanks for clicking on my story, this is my first ever story on here and I rely on myself and my friends to proofread so apologies if there are still some mistakes. This chapter won't be in 1st person but the rest will. It will mainly be Lloyd but sometimes will have other characters views as well. Enjoy!
Lloyd took another step towards the Emerald dagger that was floating on a plinth in the centre of the temple. He could feel it's power pulling him towards it yet, he could not reach it. Every time he got close, the room around him seemed to shift, forcing him further away from his destiny. Getting frustrated, Lloyd lunged at the dagger but it shot off the plinth into the outstretched hand of the ninja standing behind him.
The ninja was dressed in a black gi with gold and green accents and their face was covered by a black hood. Green eyes flecked with gold glared at him through the shadows - challenging him to react. This couldn't be possible! He had been training his whole life for this yet he had been robbed of his glory by another ninja. He narrowed his eyes "Who are you?" Lloyd sneered, "And why do you get the Emerald dagger?"
The ninja did not reply but pulled a sword from a sheath at their hip. It glinted wickedly in the dim light as the ninja slashed the air in front of him.
"Leave or die" the ninja growled.
"Never" He spat back and swung his sword at the dark ninja. The ninja stepped out of the way with ease and fought back. He cursed himself under his breath. Damn that ninja was good. A flurry of punches, kicks, and clashes of steel followed and before Lloyd could catch his breath, the other ninja had the blade to his throat. Sensei was going to have his head unless the dark ninja took it first. He prayed his spinjitzu was enough to get him out of the temple in one piece. "Ninjag-" the word died on his tongue as the dark ninja plunged the Emerald Dagger into his back.
"No..." Pain flooded him as the ninja removed the dagger placed it in a holster ignoring the blood dripping off it. The dark ninja slowly removed their hood and the face underneath was not what he expected. A girl, maybe around 17, glared back at him. Her face was actually quite pretty despite the fact she had his blood across her face but her eyes... Her eyes confused him. While the rest of her face was twisted into a look of annoyance, her eyes were filled with a strange emotion. Was it pity? "I'm so sorry Lloyd." How did she know his name? His thoughts began to blend into one like colours on a page until one question remained.
"Who are you?" A small smile danced on her lips and she replied with one word.
"Alana."
She spun around and ran from the cave without a second glance back at him. Lloyd groaned, "Damn it! Sensei's going to kill me." He could feel the blood still running from the wound on his back but still tried to stagger towards the exit after her. His head was starting to feel fuzzy and he couldn't stop his legs from giving way as the world went dark around him.
