Day 1: Promise
Promises are meant to be broken.
Gray could not recall where and when he heard those words. He wasn't even sure who said those because during the time he heard those six little words he did not believed it.
Why promise if you're just going to break it, that's what he said and swore he's not among those who go around breaking promises.
He's Gray Fullbuster, a man of his words. A man who stood by his words and do as he says. He prided himself for that. Once he made a promise he'll see to it that he fulfill it no matter what.
That's the kind of person he is or at least that's what he wanted to believe but as he stood there staring blankly in Juvia's fear stricken eyes he knew he must break a promise he once made.
No—not just a promise but a lot of them.
He swore to never think of sacrificing his life again. That for his nakamas, he is going to live, he will walk the path of the living. He believed that things should not be decided by life and death alone, that thinking about the future is far more important than anything.
But how can he think of those things now? How can he consider living when at the end of that winter cold chain wrapped around his neck is the woman he wants to share his future?
How things turned up the way they are at that moment is unclear to him. All that he knew was he's fighting alongside Juvia and they're facing one of the Spriggan 12, Invel.
One moment they were defending their life against a great foe and then the next thing they knew it was already them fighting against each other.
"Gray…"
Juvia's voice reached out to him but even how much he wanted to reassure her that things would be fine, he could not find the will to do so. He's mind is going blank just the way Invel said it would be. He's under his control so is Juvia.
They are trapped in ice lock wherein only one of them can get out alive and he already decided who that will be.
Gray tightly closed his eyes. He knew what he must do and doing so means breaking not only one promise.
He promised to live.
He promised not to let fear rule his life.
He promised to give Juvia his answer.
Now he must break them all for he could not live if it means killing Juvia so he's letting his fear of losing her rule him. He would rather not live and take his answer to the other life just to keep her alive.
I'm sorry, Juvia.

So I decided to actually participate in the Gruvia Week and this is my first time doing so. I'd been writing Gruvia FF for quite a while now but I never have taken prompts so please bear with what I managed to come up with!
Feel free to leave a review! I definitely need some for inspiration.
