Artemis Fowl: Deja Vu

Finally some fresh air, Holly thought as she soared over Dublin waters at high speeds. Nothing like feeling the wind rush past her pointed ears as she basked in the moonlight.

And oh what a night it was to be above ground, thought Holly. I almost feel bad for the guys stuck down in the Lower Elements. A pod of dolphins broke the surface of the moonlit water, and Holly could have sworn of them grinned at her just before plunging back in. Almost, but not quite.

Sadly her night flight was cut short. She'd arrived at her destination, a small sandy beach which trailed into a green forest.

Holly, being the veteran she was, gradually descended until her wings came to a complete stop as she soundlessly landed on the sand. Not that mud people traveled this far out from the safety of their homes.

And so, Captain Holly Short ventured into the Irish wilderness, eyes wandering the mossy forest floor until she'd found it; a small acorn resting at the foot of a large oak.

Holly kneeled to pick up little miracle of nature, her hand extended.

"Gotcha," She whispered gently to herself as she clasped the acorn. Now all she had to do was plant it somewhere and she'd be running hot in no time short. "Okay now, all there is to do now is-" Holly stared into the darkness of the forest.

A pair of eyes stared back.

Great, thought Holly, complications. Before she could react, she felt something puncture the neck of her suit. She quickly pulled it out.

A tranquilizer dart.

Oh gods, I think I'm experiencing a case of deja vu, as the mud people say. Her last thoughts before the sedative took hold of her body, and soon her mind. Her eyes darted wildly as she lost feeling in the bottom half of her body. Her legs turned to jelly and crumpled beneath her.

With the last of her strength, she willed herself to face her attacker. Oh my gods! She thought before the sedative overtook her completely. It can't be…

And then Captain thought no more, for what else could be said. She had peered into the human's eyes and saw her own among them.

One conclusion could be made. A foul one, at best...
