It was apparent that there was much mistrust from the humans concerning the vampires.
She knew from what her father would tell her that the vampires were not be trusted. That they were monsters and abusers of a humans' trust of them.
And so she had learned that it was best not to trust the vampires while living with her parents.
When Bill had turned her, she learned that the vampires were to slightly be trusted and that aside from Sookie, they were still mostly mistrustful of the humans as well even though they were far older than the human race.
Simply for that one fact that there were those who would seek to kill them all in the name of God.
