So I saw a tweet from Kate_Beckett and this idea popped into my head. Hope you like it
"Four years," Kate muttered from where she was sitting and working on paper work.
"Huh?" Rick asked looking up from his phone. "What did you say?"
"Nothing," Kate said. She hadn't meant to say it out loud.
Rick looked her in the eye and said, "Ok, now I'm curious. What is going on in your head my dear Detective?"
"I was just thinking," Kate said, "That it was four years ago today when I first arrested you."
Rick laughed, "You're right. And what a four years it's been."
Kate laughed and then looked over towards Esposito and Ryan as Esposito cleared his throat. "Yes Espo?" she questioned.
"Just wondering if you're going to give each other loving looks all day or if you're actually going to do some work?" he answered with a smirk.
Kate rolled her eyes but blushed lightly at his words. Rick just looked smug as he said, "Just remembering that it was four years ago today the Beckett arrested me for the first time."
"Really? It's been four years?" Ryan said, "Doesn't feel that long."
"No," Kate says, "Feels much much longer."
"Hey," Rick pouted, "I'm hurt."
"Well I'm sure Beckett can kiss it better," Esposito teased.
Kate threw a mint from her bowl at him as Ryan laughed.
Rick looked around quickly and seeing that the bullpen was empty and that Gates wasn't in her office he leant across the corner of the table and gave Kate a soft kiss on the cheek. "Happy four year anniversary," he whispered.
Kate smiled back, "And the same to you."
Behind them Esposito muttered to Ryan, "First it was ten months of them being a couple and now it's four years of knowing each other. What's next? First time they saved each other."
Ryan shook his head, "Just leave them to it Espo."
