They'd been dating, officially, for two years as of today. They may have been celebrating the day that they first went out together as a couple, but just where they went had an even more meaningful memory behind it. It was the very place that they went to their not really a date, date.

Marinette and Luka had been friends, and when Marinette ended up accompying Kagami and Adrien to their 'date,' she'd invited Luka to feel a little less alone. It had just made sense at the time though it took many months later for her to realize just how much Luka meant to her, how much she wanted their heart songs to sing in tandem together.

Marinette was just lacing up the skates when she looked up to see her boyfriend of two years offer to lace them up for her, and this brought on its own slew of memories from that first, sorta date. She let him and just watched the love and care in the movements, in just how much love could be hidden in the little moments. Sometimes she had to fight the urge to propose, even though she hadn't bought a ring, because she was positive that he was going to ask her eventually. Juleka had assured her once that eventually they'd get married, 'Just give it time. He'll propose when you're both ready to get married.'

Love was such a warm, steady feeling within her chest, flowing from the simple moments to the less simple. It had been ages since she'd been to an ice rink and already worried that she'd wobble or fall over. Being Ladybug did not come with the magical ability to suddenly be graceful as Marinette: that would have to be stumbled through and hopefully learned with practice.

Finally, they took to the ice, moving together with fingers clasped tightly around each other and entwined. It felt almost as if they'd done this together for years. Marinette felt so at ease right beside her boyfriend that she couldn't resist leaning in and just enjoying his steady warmth, the smell that always clung to him, and just how she fit against his side. It wasn't the perfect fairytale of two puzzle pieces connecting, but it always just felt right, as if she belonged there.

Luka made her feel at peace and at home, and that meant more than an adrenaline rush. He'd always encouraged her and loved her for who she is, and she felt just the same way about about him. He'd won over her heart a while after meeting her, with undivided attention, sweet observance, and little tender ways of showing that he cared from lacing up her skates to playing music just for her, inspired by her, on his guitar. Something was here that she'd never expected to find years ago, but it was something that she doubted that she could walk away from.
