This is for SilveryDarkness, who is amazing and who gave
me the excuse to write Inu/San. Right now, it's a oneshot – but
who knows. Perhaps I'll write more for it sometime...
LOSSES
Sango could feel her hands bleeding as she held the Hiraikotsu tightly clenched between her palm and fingers. The raw skin bubbled and stung, making her breath come out in ragged and uneven intervals – a reminder that she had grabbed one of Naraku's stingers and lived.
If Sango had pulled up her hand to her face – even for a moment – she would be able to see that she now had a hole right through it, piercing her bones and letting the poison run through her body just as it had through Kohaku when he sputtered and begged Sango to forgive him before he died in her arms. Marked graves and scars carved into her back. She grabbed and screamed and tore and tried to scar him as best she could like he had done her until she had pulled it straight off with one giant swing of her weapon and one arch of her palm as she went sailing back.
Just like Miroku, she now had a gaping hole in her hand. Tugging and pulling and painful and what a loss. The stench of burning corpses invaded, and dizziness began to set in as the poison came down on her, and if she wasn't trained and wasn't vengeful and wasn't a damn survivor, she would've been crying by now, just like she would sometimes do in the hot spring because she could see the bodies of Shippou, Kirara and Miroku lined up with other foreign faces that she didn't recognize. Kagome laid somewhere within Miroku, along with Naraku after she had held him down with her power before they had both died the hero.
And now Tessaiga was gone. Losses amoung friends and enemies. Sango tried not to think of the person standing in front of her – tried not to believe it was him who had killed most of these people in this village, this castle.
InuYasha glared back at her with a hateful stare.
His eyes were now red, and he had those same markings on him like the first time he had changed into a full demon. When he had killed the humans.
And Sango was a demon exterminator. And they were now on the battlefield. Dragged through water and even then his hand was clasped in hers. This was the person who had taken hold of her arm when she was about to kill Kohaku. The one she had thanked for saving her. The one who had kept her alive.
And now Kohaku was dead – what did she have to lose now?
InuYasha growled and inhuman growl, claws extended as he came rushing towards her.
Sango let her Hiraikotsu come up over her head as the losses between them came rushing back with a speed she had never known even as her legs trembled underneath her, the image of friends and family fading and rising.
"InuYasha," she said. "I'll save you."
