Caroline walked the abandoned town of Mystic Falls, she didn't recognise the place. It wasn't the same, nothing was. She felt alone, she didn't know who was alive or dead. She hadn't heard from Elena, Damon, Bonnie, not even her own Mother. She looked around the town, scared and worried. She heard footsteps behind her, and her heart beat raced. She was ready to strike, kill anyone who tried to kill her. She turned around quickly, and saw a tall, dark but beautiful person standing there, someone she recognised too well
"Hey, Caroline," he said, she couldn't stop staring, couldn't even blink,
"Stefan," she said under her breath, he smiled at her, that handsome smile. He started to run towards her, and she ran towards him, it was a long way but they didn't care, they just kept looking at each and running until they fell into each other's embrace. Caroline bursting into tears, he stroked her long, blonde hair, and her tears fell onto his shoulders
"I told you, I would keep my promise," he said, Caroline looked at him, and slapped him across the face
"Well, you shouldn't have, that was so stupid, Stefan," she said angrily
"O..kay," Stefan said in his usual confused tone
"You were dead, you died, Stefan, you...you," she burst into tears again
"I'm here now," he said in a calm voice
"I never want to lose you again, Stefan. You are too important to me, I care about you too much," she said
"You understand, that if anything happens to you, I couldn't handle it," he said. He put a strand of her hair behind her ears, and rested his hand on her cheek. He kissed her on the forehead, and she held his hand.
"Never leave me again," she whispered with her eyes closed
"I promise," he said
"Can you?" she said
"No," he said, in a sad tone.
"Stefan," she said looking at him
"Yeah, Caroline,"
"This is gonna sound crazy, but I need you to do something for me," she said
"Anything,"
"Kiss me," she said, in a sweet but demanding voice. Before he died, he would have thought this was crazy, but being away from her, even if it was a short time, made him realise that Caroline was the one he needed to be around. Seeing her in pain over his death made his heart hurt. He looked at her, and Caroline looked at him. She sighed
"Yeah, crazy, right?" she said, before walking away. With that, Stefan grabbed her arm, and kissed her softly on the lips. She responded with such enthusiasm, he held her by the waist, and she placed her hands at the back of his neck. They kissed for a while, before breaking away. They looked at each, and chuckled to each other before Stefan kissed her on the head, and she smiled contently.
