Losing a Friend
Raven looked at her son Caleb asleep in his crib. His light green skin was a compliment of his father. Starfire was also watching her children sleep. Yoko was watching something too. The pale moon was staring down at her. It was a little sad. Raven and Starfire have their children now and Yoko has no reason to stay. She had tomorrow to spend with her friends and then her pack mates were coming to get her. Yoko sniffed and laid her head on her paws. She drifted off into the deep maze of her memory.
"Hey Yoko! You wanna play fetch Beast Boy asked as he shook a stick in front of her face. "I'm not a dog jackass" she growled. Yoko had given up and played fetch with the runt.
Cyborg was playing his video games and Yoko had gotten interested in them and picked up the second controller and started playing too. She beat him that day.
"Car" Raven said from her spot under the tree. The car hit Yoko and she tore it into scrap metal. She went to what the humans called jail that day.
Slade chunked Raven across the room like she was a small child. He made his first grave mistake that time. Yoko showed off her famous Foxfire that day.
Yoko sat up. The sun was peeking through the clouds. She stretched and looked around. Caleb, Hawk and Star were sitting in the playpen and it was pushed up against the couch. "I'm guessing your moms ditched you to go do something interesting" Yoko said with a sigh. All three children smiled at her. The fox woman stood up and cracked her back. Raven peeked around the corner at her. Yoko's ear and nose twitched. "Yes! A free day" Raven whispered. "From what" came a fox-like voice. Raven turned and met the emerald green eyes of Yoko. "I need to tell all you teen titans a little secret and about the significance of this day" Yoko said.
All the titans who even remotely knew Yoko met at Titans' tower. "What is this about Yoko" Robin asked. She sighed and cleared her throat. "I'm leaving Earth today" she said. There was a long silence and then laughter. "And where are you going? Back to that freak planet of yours" Speedy said with a chuckle. Yoko took her badge off her cloak and tossed it to Raven. A bright light lit up behind her. Three tall men stepped out of the light. Two were identical but had different flowing mohawks and the last was as stern as a timber wolf. "Are you hehe ready to go hehe Yoko" one of the mohawk boys said. "Everyone. These are my brothers. Hugo, Hannibal and Blitz" Yoko said. Raven flew up and landed in front of Yoko. "Why do you have to go" she asked. "My job is done. Your world is safe in the hands of Caleb, Hawk and Star. No reason for me to hang out anymore" Yoko said patting the younger girl's head. "But y-"she started. Yoko put her finger on Raven's lips. "Raven. My time here has been wonderful. I've made new friends and gained a best friend for life" she said. Yoko pushed Raven's hood off her head. "Raven. You've become the best friend I never thought I'd have. Though the parting hurts we will always be bonded in heart and mind" the fox said.
Yoko looked back from the entrance to the inter-dimensional gate. Raven was still there. "And don't keep your hood on all the time! Let the world see the beautiful young girl under that hood" she said. Raven smiled and watched as the end of Yoko's tail sank into the gate. "You'll always be my best friend Yoko" Raven thought quietly to herself. She walked to the entrance of Titan's tower. She glanced back where the gate had been. She swore that she heard Yoko say back 'atcha buddy.
