Smiling Day

your smile is like a cascade of water, rejuvenating my soul,
parched and cracked from the heat of the day.
i'll turn my eyes up to the sun for just a moment,
even if it's to see the shadow of you.
my fingers will linger on your arm a minute more,
because i can't bear to break the electricity from you.
it's all a rush, going from day to day in your presence,
but i wouldn't trade it in for a million lazy ones without you.
it's all sweets when it comes to eats, but that's fine;
you and i can share one more treat before it's time to go again.
i'll smile too, even if the true one you hold is hidden,
so i'll smile in hope that you'll bring that secret out.
i can go a day and a week and a month and a year,
but i swear, i won't go an eternity without you.
