He's not the type of person to remember little things or pretty much anything at all. He also wasn't the type of person to make decisions. That just wasn't him. He was someone who took everything with a smile. He just loved to have fun, and be carefree. What's the worry? He was the hakuna matata guy. When he was upset, he would clearly show it. But he didn't get mad often. That's just who he was.
But there is one certain thing that he could never forget, no matter how hard he tried, though he didn't want to. It was Ally. She was the most important subject in his life. More important than his music, pancakes, even his career. She's the reason he's living out his dreams. She gives him so much. She's given him her songs, her friendship, and she's given him hope. The hope he's needed for a while. Sometimes he feels guilty because he hasn't given her anything in return.
He remembers all the time he's had with her. Which is remarkable because he can't remember anything. He remembers all the times they've hugged, from starting off quick and friendly, to longer and tighter. Those were the times when he never wanted to let her go. Her scent was floral, like a lone rose in a garden. She was rare like that. But yet he still treated her as invisible. He never understood why.
He remembered when they'd write a new song together. Since the piano bench was so small, they'd sit very close together. Shoulders, legs, and occasionally hands touched. It was their time to bond, and he wouldn't trade it for the world. He wished he could go back and relive those moments.
He remembered the goodbye kiss that he gave her. They were both heartbroken that she couldn't go with him, but she couldn't let her dad run the store alone. Austin promised her that they would keep in touch constantly. He wiped away her tears, and wrapped her in a tight hug. Without further hesitation, he leaned down and kissed her. It was short and sweet, but it left her speechless.
"A-Austin … I …" Her eyes were wide and innocent.
He stroked her hair. "I know, Ally." He spoke softly. "I'm really going to miss you. I don't know when I'm coming back."
"If you ever come back, …" She whispers.
"Hey," He lifted up her chin and looked her in the eyes. "I promise I'll come back."
She believed him, hugging him once more. Then he walked away.

And here he was, nearly a year and a half later, just standing in his hotel room looking at the city lights. He thought about how much Ally would've loved to be here. He promised that he would come back to her. He hasn't forgotten, he's just been busy. He looked past the bright, Chicago lights, trying to see Lake Michigan. There was nothing but blackness. Emptiness, just like his hollow heart.
He heard a soft knock. It was nine at night! Who could it be at this hour? If it were Dez, he would've just walked right in. It was probably the maid trying to flirt with him. He walked over and opened the door, about to tell the maid off. But he froze.
That girl that had stolen his heart two years ago was there. In all her glory. She looked different, more mature, but beautiful nonetheless. This time he was the one left speechless.
She looked at him with bright eyes, but she spoke softly.
"I know you haven't forgotten. I just wanted to let you know that I haven't either."
No more words were exchanged, just overdue kisses. And he couldn't remember a time where he was happier.
Of course he wasn't the type to remember.
A little drabble I guess. Like it yes? No? Let me know! YFMDYLM should be uploaded before Sunday. Sorry it's been so long!
