I stood there with my eyes closed, just on the edge of the trail of sunlight.
I didn't seem quite so dead anymore. Here, I could pretend that she was still alive. I could pretend everything was as I wanted it to be. I slowly sifted through my happiest memories, waiting for the clock to strike. Tuning out the noise of the busy festival, I imagined holding my sweet Bella in my arms again. I remembered the exact look on her face when she was happy to see me, how she blushed when she was embarrassed, the deep brown of her eyes.
The clock tolled. I listened to it tolling slowly. One... Two... Three... Four...
Soon it would be up to twelve. Once that last chime struck, I would step into the sunlight, and not long after that I would be reunited with my love.
Seven... Eight...
The last chime was so close... I could feel the rise of the suspence as it prepared to strike, like the rush before a fall you knew was coming. I thought I heard someone call my name... It was the voice that I would recognise anywhere, but I knew that it couldn't be. It was death calling to me.
