He still remembered her kiss like she had just been with him yesterday. Her touch had been made hesitant by her naivety, but when he had failed to resist her gentle kiss at first, she had deepened the kiss. Her lips had been so soft and sweet, her love so wonderful.

Yet, he, like the idiot he was, had denied her. He had refused to succumb to that sweet music playing one beautiful melody through both their hearts and souls. He had denied the affection he'd felt for her, the affection that had steadily been growing into a love that he had refused to admit even to himself until it was too late.

He'd sent her away, he recalled, sent her to her death. She'd told him he was wrong and would regret his decision. Rumpelstiltskin's miserable howls echoed through his lonely, empty castle. She'd sworn she'd be right, but it was too late for him to tell her now that she was. It was too late, he thought, falling to his knees with tears tracking down his Demonic face. It was too late for the only one who'd ever loved him, the only one whom he could ever love, was dead.

The Queen had spoken of her innocence in the matter, but Rumpelstiltskin knew better. She had had a hand in killing his sweet, beautiful, and cherished Belle, and she would pay. If it was the last thing he ever did, Rumpelstiltskin would send the Queen to her knees. He would make her scream his name. He would force her to beg for both his forgiveness and to the stars for his beloved Belle's forgiveness. And then, after she'd begged for forgiveness and pleaded for him to have mercy on her black soul and he had hurt her in every way imaginable, he would grant the wicked, cruel, and heartless bitch the same mercy she'd shown his love. He would rip her heart out with his bare hands.

Rumpelstiltskin's slender shoulders shook. Slowly, as he planned his revenge, his sobs subsided. He raked his tears from his dark face with his claws, and then he laughed. His laughter started, as it always did, with a fit of giggles. They sounded cold and would have sent shivers down the bravest of spines, and they became even wilder and sounded more wicked as they grew. He threw back his head as his giggles grew even louder until his insane laughter resonated throughout his castle's empty corridors and out over his lands.

The Queen heard him and shivered. She bent low over her dark steed and drove him harder out into the night. She fled, with his wicked, crazed giggles nipping at her evil heels, to live another day.

He knew exactly where she was, but he let her go for now. He let her go, laughing, so he could bring her back again and again to him and his dark power, the blasted power he'd chosen over his beloved Belle, the power that would bring the Queen to her knees and make her pay - and hurt - like no one else ever had before. Rumpelstiltskin laughed, and the Queen fled.
