The life of Hermione Weasley had been anything but glamorous these past few months. In fact, they had been absolutely terrible. Never in her life had she felt more alone, and that was saying something considering all her days before Hogwarts. Her best friend, her husband had left her. It was as if one day they were snuggling on the couch and the next his stuff was moved out and he was sitting her down telling her how, "Things just aren't really working out," and "We've grown apart and we both know it. " But the thing was, she hadn't known it. Maybe she was just a little too concerned with work sometimes, but she had loved him, she had always loved him. She had loved Ron Weasley before she even understood what love was.
The whole time he was giving The Divorce speech Hermione sat with a blank look on her face, in a stunned silence. No matter what he said, she didn't response, until he finally stood up and left. Hermione sat in her chair for hours, staring at the wall. As exhaustion reared its ugly head, she curled her legs towards her, thinking of where she had gone wrong. Towards the early morning, she finally fell asleep.
The next morning she had barely enough energy to drag herself from the couch. She managed to grab her phone, call into work, but that was all. She couldn't bear to sleep in the bedroom she and Ron had always slept in. The wound was still too raw. Instead, she opted for one of the spare bedrooms; the ones they had sworn would house their kids. But they hadn't ever got to kids.
Reality had finally set in the next day, where she had cried and cried. Her world was crashing down on her, and all she could do was cry for a husband who no longer wanted her. It was terrifying, to no longer be wanted, or needed. She had always envisioned Ron and her living out their lives with an abundance of redheaded children and of them growing old. Never, would she think that The Divorce would come between them. But, it had and it was certainly devastating.
That ordeal was months ago, but still she hadn't been able to sleep in the master bedroom and almost every night she experienced terrifying nightmares, leading to tears and a realization of all her shortcomings. Throughout the day, she worked furiously, being the first to come into work and the last to leave, but that was almost normal.
Ginny, what seemed like, her only close friend tried to convince her to move on and maybe go out sometime and that that was what Ron was doing. She could scarcely talk to Harry anymore. Sides had been chosen in the divorce and as objective as they all tried to be they couldn't. Ginny was Ron's sister which made it harder for her to choose between the two and Harry, well, this was all just very difficult for Harry to take in.
The Divorce was just in its beginning stages of finalization. Wizard divorces were a lot more unheard of than muggle divorces. Wizard divorces rarely happen, but when they did it was all done under increased confidentiality and quickly. Within a week, all would be divided equally and Hermione Weasley would become Hermione Granger once again, which was disheartening.
