"Harry… I need to talk to you."
"Ginny, I love you, but the game is about to start, can it wait?"
"I- but- fine…"
Harry leaned in and kissed Ginny gently on the lips.
"Wish me luck baby." He flashed her a grin before walking onto the Quiditch pitch.
"Goodluck…" she murmured.
The halls of Hogwarts were empty, so when she left for the common room she was completely unprepared when she turned the corner and walked into Dean Thomas.
"Ginny." He grumbled before turning around and walking the other way.
"Dean! Wait!" she called down the hall. Dean turned to face her again.
"What Ginny? What could you possibly want from me? You've got Harry. You're happy. What in Merlin's name could you want from me?"
"I'm- I'm pregnant." Her voice shook as she said it and a tear rolled down her cheek.
"Why are you telling me?" Dean replied gruffly. "I bet you and Harry will have perfect kids, and you're going to live in a perfect house, and have a perfect life. Everything will be just perfect for the two of you." With that Dean stalked off, leaving Ginny alone in the corridor.
"It's not Harry's…" she cried softly.
What right does she have, springing that on me? Why the hell would I care if she's pregnant? Dean entered the common room, slamming the door behind him, ignoring the Fat Lady's grunt of annoyance. Sitting down in an armchair he pulled a picture out of his pocket. It depicted the two of them, Dean and Ginny. Ginny kissed Dean on the cheek then turned his head towards her own, mouthing the words 'I love you'. They then both turned back to the camera and smiled. The scene repeated itself and Dean placed it back into his pocket sadly. At that moment Neville walked into the common room.
"Is the game over?" Dean asked Neville.
"No, not even close. Ravenclaw is putting quite a fight. I just came up to grab a sweater, it's getting chilly." Neville started for the dorms but paused to face Dean again. "I saw Ginny just a moment ago, crying in a corridor. I asked if she was alright and she snapped at me to go away. Any idea what that's about?"
"I have to go." Dean said hurriedly, jumping up from his chair. He left the common room swiftly, jumping the stairs, and jogging back to where he had left Ginny. She was still there, sitting with her back to the wall and crying into her hands.
Dean reached for her hand. Ginny looked up, somewhat surprised, and took it. He pulled her up into a tight embrace.
"I'm sorry I snapped at you Ginny. So sorry."
"Dean…?" she whispered.
"Yes?"
"It's your baby…" Dean continued to hold her close. Before he could say anything she spoke again.
"Please don't tell Harry. Please."
Dean sighed. "Of course I won't." A single tear rolled down his cheek. After several minutes he mustered up enough strength to let her go.
"So… You're going to tell him it's his?" Ginny nodded sadly.
"For now. It'll be pretty obvious after it's born but until then…" Dean brushed a strand of loose hair from her eyes.
"I understand." He then kissed her on the forehead before turning to leave.
I still love you. He thought. I always will.
