I turned round and round in front of the mirror in the dressing room. The dress, coloured dark red like a drop of freshly clotted blood, swang gently rushling round my slender hips. The prettily decollete top embodied the narural paleness of my decoltee and face perfectly. After a last glance I turned away from the mirror and pulled away the curtain of the dressing room. By two fast steps I walked out of the dressing room and placed myself in front of Edward. „How do you like it?" Edward raised his eyebrows in admiration. „You are as pretty as the sin most men are not daring enough to commit it." I blushed, a drop of blood in snow. Though it was kitschy, I was touched. Edward smiled at my embarassment. „You will be the most beautiful girl at our homecoming party, believe me." I went back into the dressing room and took the dress of. For three days we had been looking for a dress for the big homecoming of our class, and finally we had found it. Loving I rang my hand over the dress. Never before a dress had fitted me like this one, and though it was just second- hand (my dear father had refused to spend more money for one night), it was perfect.
I took the dress to the cash desk and handed it over to the shopkeeper. „My father will pick it up later." It had been his idea to buy the dress second- hand, so he should have to pay for it, I smiled for me. The young black- haired woman nodded uninvolved and took the dress behind the dash desk. I looked round the shop, searching for Edward. He was standing in front of a jewellery box and looked at the necklaces. „Bella, come to me for a second." I stepped over to him. Edward pointed to a silver necklace with a blue drop pendant, made from stone. „How do you like it?" he asked. I looked at the necklace more closely. On close inspection, the stone did not seem to be a static object, he made the impression of flooding; dark blue striae seemed to swim on its surface. „It is beautiful", I answered, and Edward made the shopkeeper to come over to us. „Could we have a closer look at this necklace?" Dicontented and with no sign of enthusiasm the girl opened the jewellery box and gave the necklace to Edward. He held it to my decoltee. „I want to give it to you as a present." I looked down at the pendant, lying upon my pale skin. „Thank you", I heard my voice. Edward beamed with joy. „Welcome", he said.
