Run. That's the only word that appears in my head and that's what I do. I ran from my friends when they ask about the holidays. I ran from my classmates when they give me questioning looks when they see my tattered skin around my wrists. I ran from my neighbors' questioning looks when they start to notice me for my silent and awkward demeanor. For years now, that's always my solution to everything but did it ever really solve anything?
Perhaps it's time to do something about this. Maybe I should end it where it all started. I thought of the blade in my bag, wondering if all this living is really worth anything. Would someone care if I decided to never be seen or heard of again?
I felt a vibration from my pocket and felt dejected. I looked into my phone and saw that I received a text message. Probably another bout of criticism from my dear old mom. I thought sarcastically.
"Hey mate,
It's been quite a long time last we seen each other, eh? Well, not really, it's been about two hours and 48 minutes but I miss you already. Do you think you could come over and spend the night with me and my brother tomorrow? My parents would be going on a business trip and I'd appreciate some company from anyone else besides my dear brother. Let me know, alright?
-James"
Well, isn't this just a quick and positive turn of events. Firstly, it wasn't from my mom. That means I didn't do anything displeasing, right? Secondly, James just invited me over to his place. Which means more time away from home. More time for freedom and less time self-destructing. James, you just unknowingly saved my life. I thought to myself and I will forever be grateful for him.
A/N: Heyyy.. it's my first time to write a story and publish it and to be honest, I never intended to. I wrote this as a "Flash Fiction" that we needed to submit for school but I thought it's a bit too dark and my teacher might think that I have a problem so... let's just change this to Flash FanFiction, yeah?
