A/N: Hello! Welcome to another series for my account! I and hopefully you, look forward to future chapters in this series! Now I hope this first chapter is good, cause I am trying to make each chapter longer. Hope you enjoy!"

B/N: Decided to listen to some PMD music while I beta'd this. Definitely the right choice.

It was a normal day in the World of Pokémon. Many pokémon form rescue teams to help other pokémon in danger, and to explore for treasure and other valuables. One Pokemon was dreaming of starting her own explorer team, to do so she would have to go to Wigglytuff's Guild. All teams needed to register somewhere to actually start work, otherwise they were not official.

The pokémon paced back and forth in front of the entrance. She was a Torchic with a pink sash tied to her yellow crest. She sighed.

"I can't do it," she muttered under her breath. "I'm to scared..."

Torchic was very shy and she was often picked on for being a chicken. So she had little to no self confidence. She doubted herself. She wants to start a team of her own but she thought she could never do it because she was too much of a wimp. She paced back and forth, glancing at the grate before her. Finding it in herself to be resolute, she swallowed her fears and took a deep breath, stepping over the circle on the ground. She was startled by a voice.

"Pokémon detected, pokémon detected!" A voice called out.

"Waah!" Torchic screamed. She backed away from the circle, glancing fearfully at his as her neurosis won. She turned around and started to walk away from the guild. She stopped after she sat her item down in front of her. She stared at it and sighed once more. "I want to find out what is behind my Relic Fragment, but to do that I have to be on an explorer team to explore and stuff. Part of the reason I want to join..." she paused and looked up in the sky before speaking again. "I'll never be able to do it" She started to sob a bit. Unbeknownst to her there were two figures watching her.

"Heh! Koffing did you see what that girl had!?" Zubat whispered.

"Woah ho, yeah, that thing looks like it can make us some money!" Koffing agreed.

"Hell yeah! plus she's too much of a wimp to try and stop us" Zubat laughed.

"Let's go follow her!"

...

Torchic walked slowly to the beach and felt better as she saw the Krabby spewing colorful bubbles, the sunlight hitting them made them glisten as they glided along with the breeze.

"Seeing this makes me feel so much better," Torchic breathed, tasting the salty air of the sea. She closed her eyes to breath in the fresh air. She stared out to the sea for a few minutes before turning her attention to a Riolu laying in the ground. She rushed over to him frantically.

"Oh my goodness!" She gasped. "Are you okay?"

The Riolu opened his eyes to see a Torchic looking at him. He was confused and he glanced around, trying to spot the voice, before being spoken to by Torchic.

"Whew, good thing you are okay," she sighed in relief, the Riolu didn't seem injured. "You were lying here unconscious."

"Wait hold on, what is going on... why do I feel different?" The Riolu muttered.

"Different?" Torchic questioned.

"I, I don't... I don't feel like myself." He frowned and glanced down, squeezing a paw and blinked slowly at it. "I don't feel... I'm not... why don't I look human?" He asked the female Torchic.

"Well..." she blinked, unsure about how to take this series of events. "Probably because you are a Riolu."

"Wait what?" He looked into the water to see his reflection and fell backwards. "Oh my god, what the hell happened to me, why am I a fucking Riolu!?"

Torchic watched as the panicked Riolu nearly began to hyperventilate.

"Um, you're kinda weird," she said, the bluntness snapping the Riolu out of his panic.

"Listen to me." He turned on her, staring with pleading eyes. "I'm supposed to be human, why I am looking like this?" He asked, putting both of his hands on her shoulders.

"Wait, so you're saying you were originally a human, and now you find yourself here on this beach as a normal-looking Riolu?" Torchic summarised.

The Riolu nodded. "Yes!"

"Well, do you at least remember yourself as a human?" She cocked her head, not entirely convinced.

"I don't really remember much," he muttered. "All I know is that I was definitely a human before all of this!"

Torchic sighed out of slight confusion. "Well... humans have names right? Do you remember yours?"

"My name?" He questioned and crossed his eyes, thinking hard. "...yes! My name is Kyler!"

"Wow, that is a name!" She felt marginally more convinced now. "I'm Torchic, a Torchic! Nice to meet you!"

Kyler looked around some more, taking in the sights of the beach and the bubbles. "Damn, what shit is this" He looked down.

"Hey it's fine! I'll help you remember who you are," she said, reassuring him.

Kyler sighed as he sat down facing the sea. "Well I guess, thanks for planning on helping me. Even though you barely know me."

Torchic smiled. "Don't worry about it!" She beamed at his gratitude. "It's only natural you receive help."

It confused her that he didn't expect help, that is what pokémon did after all. "So, where am I exactly?" Kyler asked.

"You're near Sharpedo Bluff! See!" She pointed with her beak, bobbing her head at the cliff side in the shape of a Sharpedo.

"Sharpedo Bluff huh?" Kyler was impressed how much like a Sharpedo it really looked like. "Fitting name."

Torchic nodded. "Yeah, right outside Treasure Town too! I come here to make myself feel better when the bubbles flow from Krabby, feel the breeze against me, it lifts my spirits" She smiled as the breeze flowed against her feathers.

Kyler looked at her for a moment, he wish he could feel like her, all he was feeling was confusion. He knows he's not supposed to be a Riolu. Torchic's smile faded as she saw Kyler looking down again.

"Hey, I'm sorry, I just feel better after what happened"

"After what happened?" He frowned, only more confused.

"Well..." she trailed off and shook her head. "You'll just think of me as a wimp."

Kyler shook his head "Just tell me, I'm curious to know, I won't think of you that way."

"Okay, so I am often bullied for being a wimp, chicken, useless, you name it." She sighed, the glumness returning.

"Oh." Kyler blinked, she seemed so nice. It confused him why she'd be treated like that. "Why would they do that?"

Torchic gave a small sigh "Well, because I'm a chicken and I get scared when it comes to doing something, and I always back down cause, I have no self confidence what so ever, I recently tried to get in Wigglytuff's Guild... and I was too scared so I fled and came here, that's when I found you."

"It's okay to be afraid to try something," he reassured. "As long as you don't let it control you. I believe you can do it!"

Torchic gave a little blush in her cheeks. "You really mean it?"

"Yes," Kyler responded.

"Well, this is a first. No one ever really believed in me... thank you Kyler."

"Hey no problem."

All of a sudden a figure bumped into Torchic causing Kyler to stand up and rush to Torchic.

"Are you okay?" He asked.

"Yeah I'm fine but... oh no! My relic!" She gasped as she saw a Koffing and a Zubat hovering over it.

"Wow Girly this is some treasure you got here!" Koffing laughed.

"Yeah? It's my treasure, so, um, I'm going to grab it back now." She hesitated, moving slowly forward but the leers of the two poison pokémon made her uncomfortable.

"Heh, heh," Zubat laughed. "Sorry girly, but we are going to take it and try to make some money from it!" Zubot spoke, blocking her from her possession.

"What!? Why?"

"Because girly, are you stupid? We just said what we were going to do with it," Koffing laughed.

"I-I'm not stupid" She said as tears began to form in her eyes.

"Look at the little chicken, waah, what? Do you want this relic? Well come and take it from us," Zubat taunted.

Torchic was shaking trying to hold her tears back. She wanted to do something but felt too scared.

"Hey don't listen to them!" Kyler whispered. Putting a paw on her shoulder.

"Oh well you and that other chump can go cry somewhere! We'll be off." The two grabbed the relic fragment and rushed off.

"Hey get back here!" Kyler yelled but they ran off into a cave. "Fucking jerks, hey Torchic" He said as he knelt down and put an arm around her. Tears started to roll down her face.

"You see!? That shit right there, I am just a chicken, I can't even stand up for myself," she sniffled, trying to bury her face in her wing. And when that didn't work, stick her head under the sand.

"No you are not, you may have been afraid to take them on, that's perfectly fine! Besides two against one isn't fair, but maybe two against two will do!"

Torchic looked up in a confused manner. "What?"

"I'll help you get it back if you want me to." He gave her a confident grin, one that bolstered her own willpower.

"You would really do that for me?" She asked getting in his face.

"Yeah," he said, a little uncertainly at how close she got. "Let's go show them what were made of!"

Torchic wiped her tears away and agreed. "Okay! Let's go!"

The two ran into the cave to follow the duo of poison pokémon.

The two were now in Beach Cave. They looked around before moving down a narrow path.

"So, that relic thingy, is real important to you isn't it?" Kyler started, trying to restart some conversation.

"Yeah, it is really the only thing that keeps me going, it helps me feel a little bit better about being me."

Kyler smiled. "Well, I like this you, it's never the best to be someone you are not."

"You like me, being this way?"

"Yeah! I rather people just be themselves" He scratched his head.

"Well, I'm glad you didn't judge me then." She finally gave a smile.

"No need for thanks! Let's go get those bastards!"

"Okay!" She agreed as the two ran deeper into the beach cave.

...

"We are pretty far in here," Kyler said out loud.

"You don't think they got away did they?" Torchic asked worried.

"Trust me, I won't let them get away, we just need to get past these, pokémon?"

"OH! Those are pokémon called Shellos! We might need to battle some to proceed" Torchic informed.

"Alright, so how?"

"You have moves, just like all pokémon do!"

Kyler stared blankly at Torchic. "How do I use them?"

"Well, it will feel simple just do something," she encouraged him.

Kyler then closed his eyes, it was a little easier to reflect deeply with eyes closed. He was a pokémon now and pokémon had moves, surely, somehow, he could use them. Several of the Shellos charging at him met his paw, a bolt of kinetic force blew out as they were struck by a Force Palm. After he struck them he stared at his paws. "Did I really do that?"

"See! Felt natural didn't it?" She cheered.

"Yeah, somehow it did." He shook his head to free himself from the power trip that was creeping up. "Alright let's keep going."

"Okay."

The two traveled deeper into Beach Cave.

...

"Well we got far enough way from them..." Koffing chuckled.

"Shit, It's a dead end!" Zubat growled.

"Oh well, It's not like those wimps followed us. They are too scared." Koffing laughed.

"Oh really!?"

"What!?" Both Poison Pokemon gulped, turning around.

"Now, hand over Torchic's Relic," Kyler said, pointing dramatically.

"I don't think we will! The girly will have to do without! Now you two should back off!" Koffing glared.

"Make us," Kyler said inching closer.

Torchic stood close beside Kyler and was in awe at his bravery. "I wish I could be that brave" She whispered to herself.

"Well Koffing, we should teach these two a lesson!"

Torchic back up a bit before Kyler spoke. "Torchic, don't worry, you can do this. I believe in you, let's show these creeps!"

"Okay! If you say so!" She said, gaining some confidence.

Zubat charged towards Torchic, while Koffing headed for Kyler. Kyler dodged and used tackle to deal damage on Koffing. Koffing tried to retaliate with poison gas, Riolu backed up from the thick purple mist. Torchic did her best and used ember on Zubat who got a burn as a result, but that didn't stop him from using leech life on her. He then tackled her into the side of a wall. Kyler smacked Koffing and rushed over and took an attack from Zubat. Kyler then Tackled Zubat and knocked him out. He picked Torchic up and set her down the two smiled and turned towards Koffing. He shook as he was outnumbered. Riolu and Torchic both rushed forward and slammed the Koffing into the water, the Relic fell to the ground in the sand and Torchic ran to retrieve it. She obtained it and Kyler stood beside her to look at the two pokémon who were sweating.

"We will remember this!" Zubat yelled as he fled with Koffing hollering.

"Wait for me!"

Kyler and Torchic watched the two fly off.

"Serves them right, you did well in that little scuffle. See you can be brave!" Kyler gave a grin.

Torchic stopped and thought for a moment. "Yeah, guess I can!" She beamed.

"Let's get out of here" Kyler suggested.

"Okay."

...

Once they were outside Beach Cave, Kyler asked Torchic a question. "So, what is the importance of that little relic thing?"

"Well, you see, I found it somewhere. I want to figure out what is up with it. See this weird pattern on it?"

Kyler looked and saw the symbol. "Yeah, this is a weird shape."

Torchic nodded. "Yeah! So I figured I would want to travel and explore different places to find treasure and learn new things. Gain experience doing things, and eventually finding out what is up with this relic."

"I see."

"To do all of that I was figuring I would start an explorer team, but I was too scared to go to Wigglytuff's Guild... and I fled like a chicken," she said, sheepishly.

"Wigglytuff's Guild?"

"Yeah, you have to join there to start an explorer team, but Kyler?"

"What is it?"

"I was thinking, since you were so grateful and kind enough to help me, we stood up to those creeps good! My point is could you help me join, by joining into my soon to be explorer team?"

Kyler jolted and stiffened. "Wait what," he thought to himself. "I have amnesia, and I'm already being asked to be on a team? I-I'm not sure if I can..."

"Well, what will you do then?"

"Well, I guess nothing really since i don't have any memory or have no idea what to do next, so sure I guess i'll join you then"

She hugged him chanting "Thank you! Thank you!" She backed away smiling wide. "I thought you were going to say no, it would help me so much to have a partner!" She beamed.

"Well, I'm glad I can help. Maybe if I do some of this my memory should come back on it's own"

"Then it's settled! We are going to be the best team ever!" She yelled.

Kyler frowned at the turn of event but then instantly smiled to see Torchic actually happy to do something. They both set off for the Guild. He thought one more time before following... maybe this would be for the better.

A/N: I really love the Mystery Dungeon series, Pokemon Colosseum was the first Pokemon Game I ever played, I originally wanted to do a series for Colosseum but figured this would be a better option. Also along with my beta reader I listened to some MD music to help me write this. Anyway hope you enjoyed!
