Content: Rated K, Disney (Chip 'n' Dale) & Misc. Comics (U.S. Acres); Chip, Dale, Roy
Summary: Chip 'n' Dale/U.S. Acres crossover. This story is a parody of the Aesop's fable "The Ant and the Grasshopper."
Author's Note: In this story I decided to use Chip and Dale from the original Disney cartoons, not from the "Rescue Rangers" universe. U.S. Acres is a comic strip written and illustrated by Garfield cartoonist Jim Davis. The U.S. Acres characters have their own six-minute segment on the animated series Garfield and Friends called "Orson's Farm." This story was inspired by the "Orson's Farm" short "Peanut-Brained Rooster."
The Chipmunks and the Rooster
One autumn day on a nut farm in the United States, two chipmunks named Chip and Dale were working hard storing peanuts in their oak-tree home.
A white rooster named Roy, who lived at a neighboring farm, visited the chipmunks.
When he spotted the chipmunks holding some peanuts, he asked for just one peanut from the chipmunks' store to satisfy him.
"What were you doing all the summer while we were busy harvesting?" Dale inquired.
"Oh," Roy replied, "I wasn't idle. I played the bugle at sunrise every day. And for the rest of the day I played practical jokes on Orson and the gang. So you see I accomplished a lot this summer." The two chipmunks just looked at each other, and then they looked at Roy. Roy got down on his knees and begged, "Come on! I ate the last of our peanuts. Please?"
"Well," Chip said, "since you kept busy with your practical jokes all summer, it looks as though this autumn the joke's on you." Then Chip and Dale locked themselves inside the tree.
Moral: It is thrifty to prepare for today for the wants of tomorrow.
