Hiding behind a smile
I keep my real self hidden
away from the world.

I laugh along with others
ignoring the pain I feel.

I fool them into thinking I'm fine
while crying on the inside.

I bring comfort to my friends
comfort, a word I don't understand.

Smile like you mean it
doesn't apply to me.
I've forgotten what it feels like
because I'm hiding behind a smile.
