I wanted a way to become closer to Penelope somehow. Even though she's really friendly, we practically have nearly no relation as close friends anymore since we were apart for those eight years. So at lunch, I decided to attempt to set up a time plan where we could be close together everyday. Hopefully, it could work.
I came into Mrs. Callif's classroom, where she was just drinking water. She teaches math class for all grades. Luckily, in a way, Penelope's grades were low for this class, so I came to the right teacher.
"Aaron! What can I do for you?" Mrs. Callif asked happily. Aside from the fact that I'm an 'A' student, I'm Mrs. Callif's favorite student. I always participate in class; shooting my hand up at every question to answer to. I also help my friends when they're stumped at a lesson or at homework.
"Penelope's… having trouble with your class, and she wanted me to ask you if she could have tutoring afterschool," I requested at an attempt to not sound timid.
"Is that so? Why didn't she come to me personally though?" she asked. I was afraid she was going to ask that. Without thinking, I just told her something random.
"She's… kind of busy right now. Getting ready for… an exam next block. So… she asked me to ask you instead."
She thought for a few seconds, and nodded. I felt so thankful that she was a reasonable teacher.
"Alright then," she said as she wrote on a yellow card. "give this to Penelope as soon as you can. She and her parents must sign it." She gave me the card. It was entitled, Math Tutor Classes, with Mrs. Callif's signature and Penelope's name on it. I left the classroom in search of Penelope at the lunch area. Part one of the plan worked; I hope the next part will too.
The weather was windy. It rushed through my light brown hair as I walked across the school grounds. I spotted Penelope's dark brown hair as it flowed in the air. I walked a little faster, and I felt myself heat up in the cold weather. As I approached Penelope, she turned to me with a pretty smile she had on her face.
"Hey Aaron! What's up?"
"Oh nothing," I said. "Just the sky." She and her friends who I knew as well laughed at the corny joke I threw.
"Um…" I gave her the yellow card with my right arm while my left was scratching the back of my head in shyness. "Here. It's from Mrs. Callif. She needs you for classes every afterschool for tutoring." I was afraid that she'd get embarrassed in front of everyone. She took a hold of the card and looked at it for a while. Oddly, she smiled and looked at me.
"This is perfect! This is just what I needed, especially with my grades right now!" she said in an excited way. I was really surprised at her reaction. Out of the lot of people I know of this school, NO ONE wants tutoring at all, even if they had a bad grade.
The bell rang, and I waved goodbye to Penelope as I walked away from the lunch area into the school building. It's pretty stupid of me to be so fluttered with joy over Penelope's tutoring since I'm not even with her. But it's that everyday afterschool, I stay at the library to do my homework until the school closes. Mrs. Callif's class is where Penelope will be for tutoring. What's my point? The library's near Mrs. Callif's class; meaning I'll get to see Penelope. I walked across the hall thinking how this day couldn't get any better until Mrs. Callif called me.
"Yea, Mrs. Callif?" I asked.
"Aaron, I hope you don't mind, but I got a heck lotta things to do afterschool now. I have that computer class to take care of now until next year. I'm sorry to take your time away, but do you mind if you could tutor Penelope for me from now now for the rest of the year?"
Correction. This day just got even BETTER.
