It was a very sunny day in Diagon Alley. The street was packed. But still, just as they did at Hogwarts, people seemed to part as he walked, to make way for him. It wasn't just because he was tall or handsome, but because he was confident. He always knew what he wanted and he always got it too. Right now it was her. "Morning Evans" he said with a smile as he approached the beautiful ginger girl sat outside the ice-cream parlour. "Fancy seeing you here." "James" she replied "we arranged to meet here, like we do every week." He blushed. She was the only one who had that kind of power over him, but he was young and in love. What could he do? "You had something you wanted to ask me?" said Lily. "Yes, I did" started James, there was a slight pause. "I wanted to ask you if…" He got down on one knee and held out a beautiful diamond ring, "you would marry me?" Now it was her turn to blush. "Oh James, of course I will. I've been waiting for you to ask!" They embraced. Then suddenly, as if out of nowhere two streaks of black sprinted up to the couple and squeezed them tight. "Remus, Sirius!" said James "I told you not to come." Although he was glad they were there. "Hey, where's Wormtail?" he asked. "Dunno," replied Remus, "went to get him this morning and he was nowhere to be seen." "Probably off getting drunk if we know him!" Replied Sirius laughing. "Anyway never mind him, congratulations you two, we've been waiting long enough!" The couple smiled shyly.
The group of friends spent the rest the day talking, laughing and eating delicious ice-creams and the whole time, James did not let go of Lily's hand.
