Hopefully it'll get better as I go along. :)

Fictional Bucket List Number 44: Steal from the rich and give to the needy with Robin Hood.

"On guard!" Robin shouted, grinning proudly. He swung his saber with a flourish, tapping the steel of the sheriff's own sword. The sheriff scowled and fought back with force and anger. Beside me Marian whimpered slightly, scared by the sheriff's ferocity. I patted her shoulder, "This won't take long," I whispered. I locked eyes with Little John and he nodded his assent, he would watch Marian while I snuck out.

I smiled at her one last time, before reaching up and pulling myself up into the tree stealthily. With extraordinary balance I creeped around in the tree, stealthily sliding across the branches. I hopped from one to the other so I was on the sheriff's side of the battle, the same side as the carriage.

I grinned, biting on my lip, overly pleased by the circumstances. I placed my hands on the sturdy branch, directly above the opening in the carriage, and let myself fall gently down. I hovered above the carriage, my foot tapping the roof slightly, making a small sound.

The sheriff froze and so did I. I locked eyes with Robin, 'help' I mouthed, my heart racing, fear creeping into my thoughts for the first time. The sheriff was about to turn around, and I braced my muscles to pull myself up. But Robin, thinking on impulse, and swiped at the sheriff's cheek, leaving a line of blood dripping down his cheek.

The sheriff practically growled.

"Don't let down your guard, old man!" Robin chortled. The sheriff turned and was again absorbed in the match.

I sighed, inaudibly, filled with relief.

Swiftly, and with as much gentility as I could muster, I slid into the carriage. I sighed, breathing for half a second before going to work. I looked out the carriage door behind the sheriff. As planned, Little John and Marian stood just behind the tree, waiting for me.

I glanced at the fight, realized Robin was okay and sent Marian a thumbs up. She sighed, relieved.

I grinned and picked up one of the sacks of money. With all my strength I tossed the bag to Little John, who handed it to Marian, who put it in a wheelbarrow.

There were fifteen bags. Fourteen more to go. I chewed on my bottom lip and continued the process, picking it up a bit. After throwing the last bag, I turned to Little John, flashed him a smile and a thumbs up. He nodded and wheeled it away hurriedly, Marian following behind.

I turned and jumped to the roof of the carriage. I turned to Robin and nodded at him. He made no visible sign of understanding, but I knew he got the message. I jumped lightly, and pulled myself back into the tree, a small branch snapping as I did so.

"What was that?" the sheriff shrieked.

I froze in my place in the tree. I glanced down, making sure Robin was okay. But he was gone. I smiled, good man.

I retraced my steps through the tree, jumping nimbly down to the ground and sprinting off to our meet up place. I danced as I ran, thrilled by our success, letting the wind cut through my blonde locks and my cheeks tinting pink.

When I arrived at the small clearing, I tackled Robin in a hug: "We did it!" And I turned to Marian and hugged her, and gave the same treatment to Little John. The laughed at my enthusiasm.

"We better get to Friar Tuck," Robin said. We nodded our assent, leaving the forest.

"Bless you child," Friar Tuck grinned, patting my shoulder softly. I grinned, "Thank you."

And we began handing out the golden coins, bringing smiles to the face of those who had previously been sad.
