I haven't written for Phineas and Ferb in ages! Here's a Phineas and Isabella one-shot. I don't know if it should be friendship or romance…it's kind of both, definitely hurt/comfort. Enjoy:)

Disclaimer: I don't own these fantastic character, but I do own some of these feelings, unfortunately.

They have been best friends for years, and she's liked him almost as long. Almost every day a new flash of hope would be created and destroyed that he returned her feelings.

His enthusiasm is what struck her. He was so passionate about everything he did. If he had a goal, he would never stop pursuing until he succeeded. She was jealous of that. She was pretty good with perseverance, but some days all she wanted to do was give up on everything and cry. But he never let her, and she's glad he didn't.

She put on a fearless front, but that was the opposite of the truth. She was constantly terrified. She was afraid she'd fail at her every endeavor, she was afraid he would get hurt, she was afraid she'd never find love. She was more afraid than anyone, even her nerdy friend, but unlike him, she refused to show it. She refused to show it because that was her biggest fear of all. She didn't want him to view her as a wimp, she didn't want her bully of a…friend?...to make fun of her for it. But she revealed it to one person: his brother. His brother saw her pain; she figured he related to it in some way. He was always there for her. It helped. He was her best friend, besides him, of course. Maybe some of her girl friends were closer than his brother as well, but she couldn't show her fearful side to them either. She was their leader. She had to be fearless.

No matter what she did, he never noticed her. Never. Every day, she asked the same question in the most flirtatious voice a ten year old could. "Watcha doin'?" Every day asked, every day clueless.

That's where she was now, in his back yard, wishing he noticed. She smiled when he was happy, frowned when he was frustrated. When he needed a tool, she was the first to get it, even though she sometimes secretly asked his brother what tool it was.

"The self-pity needs to need!" she told herself every day. She was young. She was a fighter, and that's what kept her strong. She was brave, even if she didn't believe it.

One day she caved, she told him she was scared, she didn't want to see him hurt. She told him she hated being fearless all the time, she told him it was fake. He pulled her in his arms, he told her it was okay, he smiled at her and said, "You don't have to be fearless to be brave, Isabella." And those words echoed in her heart. She was still afraid, but she was okay with it now, because Phineas told her she could be. It was okay to be more afraid than Baljeet and who really cares if Buford makes fun of her? It was okay to show the Fireside Girls she had fears too, because she faced them, that was more admirable than not having any. Ferb still was her go-to comfort, because he knew of the fear all along, but he always said, "He'll see you one day, you just have to be patient." And that's what her real problem was.
