Natasha just wanted to get out at this point. She was eating regular food now. Occasionally she was allowed to indulge in junk food. The donuts were actually pretty good here. Barton came to visit her everyday. He gave her looks of pity and love. She didn't know which was worse. Getting close to anyone was a mistake. A big one. Getting close means putting them in danger. Clint could have gotten himself killed trying to get to her like that. It was horrible going through what she had in that short time, no denying that, but not worth Clint's life. That would be one debt she couldn't repay. Stop it. Don't think like that. She thought to herself. She looked down at her upturned arms. She thought back to just wanting for him to save her. To get her out. To simply have him hold her again. To not be strong.
She keeps looking at her arms. She has to know how much that killed Clint, that simple eye movement. Fury told him about what each slit meant. "Five days." he had said. What he really meant was "Five days he didn't get back on his game and save her." All of the sudden, Tony walked in. "Still watching the spider lay in her nest? It's like watching paint dry. Underwater." He was holding a Styrofoam box. It was steaming. "What the hell is that?" The Hawk demanded. Stark held up his free hand. "Whoa, calm down, Barton. It's just fettuccine. Some Italian food won't hurt the starving girl." Was it just Barton, or did Tony's mini-reactor shine a little brighter when he made a sarcastic remark? Stark walked right into Tasha's room.
