I'd just like to thank everyone who responded to my last 'update' and gave me their opinion! Yet again I was surprised by the enthusiastic responses I got from you guys, and how quickly everyone responded! I cannot thank you enough for your continuous support throughout this story and in the future.
I definitely will be updating this story, and I won't just quit halfway through this time, but I will be testing the waters with this fanfic so updates may be slow and spaced out!
-even more so because, I hate to say it, my other fanfiction 'A Heart of Stars' takes a bigger priority over this one, but I will be putting in the same time and effort for this story it just might take longer for me to update for this one.
I'm glad to be back and I hope you enjoy this new and improved first chapter of 'Savior'~ I wouldn't say that this chapter is gory, but there are themes involving heavy violence!
P.S. these chapters are going to be written in a 3rd Person Omniscient POV as opposed to 1st Person. **Things may be confusing at the first part of this chapter, and I kinda intended for that to happen, but rest assured that everything will be explained!**
"Are you wondering how things could be? Just staring at the surface, When all the walls have tendencies. But it's not your fault no one taught you how..."
-? : ?-
"Just look at them, running around like insects. Who knew a such a small village could make a human's life look so insignificant? I think that if I were anyone else I would pity them, but their faces filled with terror is such an exciting sight to see that I can't help but enjoy all of this!" Hana snickered as she balanced her chin in the palm of her hand. "You know, it's moments like these that I remember why I love my job so much!"
Aiden rolled his eyes in annoyance before smacking the brunette in the back of the head. "Yeah, and it's moments like these, when you open your mouth, that I'm reminded of why I hate going on missions with you idiots." He hissed. "Besides, you're not even doing any of the work. Little Miss Water Girl is the one that's carrying out the mission, with that creepy magic of hers. I'm surprised she hasn't turned on you already and drowned you, or whatever it is that she does since you go on the most missions with her. I can't imagine what I'd do if I had to hear you open your mouth every single day. Actually, I think I'd rather deal with you, Hana. That little partner of yours is a waste of space. We'd be better off without having such a freak around."
Pouting in mock hurt the woman said, "Why do you always have to be so mean all the time Ai-chan? And what did I tell you about insulting my partner all the time? I bet you're just jealous that you always get stuck with that bitch of a sister of mine who probably makes you do all the work. At least I get to sit back and enjoy the show when I take missions~" She sang.
With a feral growl, Aiden suddenly jumped to his feet and roughly grabbed Hana by her neck. His fingers dug into the skin of her throat and the woman wheezed as she was lifted up from the ground. She flailed her legs around and clawed at his hands in an attempt to set herself free, but her actions were in vain as he only tightened his hold on her throat. "What did I tell you about calling me that filthy name?!" He snarled. "Huh?! How many times do I have to tell you not to call me that?! Are you really so stupid that you can't even do one simple thing?!" Aiden's grip got so tight on her throat that he thought Hana's neck might just snap under the pressure.
Aiden froze, though, as he felt something cold pool around his feet and soak through his shoes. It slowly inched its way up his legs, before wrapping around his torso, trapping his arms, and around his neck. Unable to move his body on his own free will the man could only strain to look at the wizard to his left, standing several feet away with her arm extended out in front of her, while Hana was dropped to the ground with a large gasp of air. Her face was flushed and the imprint of large hands and fingerprints had already begun to bruise the skin around her neck. Coughing violently, the woman wiped the wetness away from her bloodshot eyes before weakly glaring at the still man. Yet a cruel smirk began to pull at her lips as she noticed the blue water wrapped tightly around his body, and she couldn't help but glance smugly at her partner as a slow fit of laughter roused from her mouth.
Dull cobalt blue eyes met Hana's gaze and a bubble of excitement bloomed in her chest as the girl slowly began to clench her hand into a fist. Aiden opened his mouth to scream in pain when the water suddenly began to constrict and crush his body, but when his jaw fell open it quickly rushed into his mouth and down his throat. Hana laughed in pure glee as the man's body began to shake convulsively and almost cried in happiness when he sent a pleading glance toward her partner, asking her to stop. His muffled cries barely sounded from underneath the layers of water, but Hana heard it loud and clear, and it was like music to her ears.
"Sorry," Aiden screamed in agony as the girl clenched her fist even harder. "But what was it that you said about me?" The man's eyes bulged as the water went deeper into his throat, and grew lightheaded as a side-effect of not being able to breathe. "Something about drowning people, right?" She tilted her head to the side and squinted at Aiden's trembling form. "How about I show you firsthand what this 'creepy magic' of mine can do?" Slowly, if only for a second, the girl's lips pulled back in a scowl as she bared her teeth at the man, before returning to her signature emotionless expression. "Or better yet," Aiden threw his head back and thrashed around as the water completely engulfed his head, further cutting off any oxygen that could have gotten to his brain. "What happens when you insult me."
-Magnolia : Fairy Tail-
It's a funny thing, the way Life works. People take everything for granted, not truly understanding the true worth of something, until it's gone and no longer a part of their life. They'll plead and beg for it to come back, promising that they'll change, that it will be different the second time around, but the sad truth about reality is that when something is truly gone it won't ever come back. It's lost forever and the only thing people will think about is the haunting fact that they made it leave; that they were the reason it was gone forever. They'll wake up every morning feeling empty with the thought that part of their life had disappeared completely. They'd have to go throughout the day knowing that something they held so dear wasn't going to be right there with them. And worst of all, they had to go to sleep knowing that it would haunt their dreams, just so they could wake up the next day and go through the whole thing again. It was an agonizing process of cruelty.
Lucy disappeared without a trace. No one really knew when she left, and if someone did they never said anything. It was like the guild had just woken up from a dream and realized that she was missing. But the most tragic part of the story? No one did anything. Even after seeing that her apartment was empty and way behind on rent, after asking everyone in Magnolia if they had seen her, coming up with nothing, and after contacting other guilds for information without so much as a clue of her whereabouts, Fairy Tail continued living as if nothing had happened in the first place. No one brought up her name, and if someone did a voice in the crowd would ask, "Lucy? Who's that?" And better yet, if someone tried to remember what she looked like they'd come up with a blank face. Lucy was a mystery best left solved. After all, she must have disappeared for a reason. It's not like it mattered, though, right? No one remembered who she was in the first place. And if she couldn't be remembered then it's not like she was important to begin with. Fairy Tail would remember their Nakama.
Sometimes Gray would spend hours thinking about who Lucy was. He could hear her soft voice in the background of his dreams and her melodic laughter as he slept. Flashes of a gentle smile would cloud his vision when Mirajaine, or anyone, grinned at him, and a distant voice in his head would tell him to put on his clothes whenever he stripped and lost his clothes. And more often than not when Wendy would treat his wounds Gray could feel the ghost of larger hands running across his skin alongside a knowing voice telling him to "be more careful next time." Yet no matter what he did or how hard he tried, Gray couldn't remember what Lucy looked like. It was like bits and pieces of who she was would pop up in his mind, but no matter what he could never put everything together. Something about that bothered him, about not knowing who she was, and it ate at his heart every day that he came up empty.
Of course, he didn't forget her completely. Gray knew Lucy was a member of a guild and that she was an individual on his team. He knew that she was around his age and that she had fought countless battles with him; it wasn't like he had forgotten about her completely. But no matter what he tried to do he couldn't remember her face. He couldn't remember what she looked like or why she would leave the guild. Deep down Gray knew that Lucy wasn't the type of person to just up and leave, so the fact that she did, well, it bothered him. If Gray remembered anything about the bubbly blond it was that she was always smiling. No matter how dark the situation she always managed to find something to smile about. Her disappearance was more than concerning.
So, as he sat in the guild hall, everyday Gray attempted to come up with some sort of reasoning for Lucy's disappearance. After a couple of weeks of asking around, the guild slowly began to remember the missing girl. Fond memories popped up here and there, but as people got to talking Gray realized something. Lucy didn't vanish without warning, she said something to Natsu the day she disappeared. But what was it, what she did say? With the guild talking excitedly around him Gray had trouble thinking.
-"Who, you mean that blond bimbo that used to be in the guild? Yeah, I remember her, what a waste."
-"Damn, you know what I just realized? We shoulda gotten her keys before she left. She was a Celestial Spirit Mage, right? Imagine how much money we could've gotten for those things!"
-"The only thing I remember about her is the article Sorcerer Weekly posted about her! All those confessions about who slept with Lucy and who did this and that. It's disgusting really, she ruined the guilds name!"
-"She was a princess. Never should've been let into the guild!"
Vicious comments flew about the guild and old articles from popular magazines were pulled up. People laughed as they read the nasty things authors published about Lucy. Some stories bashed her style and the way she dressed, as well as her magic and how terrible of a Celestial Spirit Mage she was, while others were nasty documents about who had slept with her and what they did. People throughout the guild were laughing or cringing, criticizing Lucy for anything they could think of; coming up with reasons and conversations why it was a good thing that she was gone.
And then, suddenly, in that very moment, the world stood completely still as Gray remembered something. It hit him like a ton of bricks and knocked the air out of his lungs. In a matter of seconds, it felt like he was choking, and in his state of panic, his heart began to pound painfully hard against his chest. Blood roared in his ears so loudly that he had to cover them with his hands, and he must have made a pained sound because the whole guild turned to look at him in his anxious state. As Lucy's image began to carve itself into his brain, Gray's body began to burn and he started to sob loudly. In his mind, dark brown eyes looked at him accusingly.
"This is what you wanted, right Gray? You wanted to remember what I looked like!"
Her mocking voice echoed throughout his head, and without being aware of doing so, Gray clamped his hand over his mouth and screamed. Bruised skin and bleeding wounds flashed behind his eyelids, and by then several people were by his side asking what was wrong. Gray was so involved in what was going on in his mind that he didn't care to answer, or to even listen to what his guildmates were saying. He had to see this. He had to remember who Lucy was! Her lips curled up into a mocking smirk as she brushed her hair back, revealing more wounds on her neck and face, before looking up with haunting brown eyes. And just like that, as quickly as the image came, Lucy was gone.
"Natsu, I'm going to make you and the guild pay for everything you did to me. As soon as you get comfortable and forget all about me, then the war will begin."
...Because now the one you once loved is leaving. You're so sure that I'd be just fine here. But you were surely just taking your own time dear."
-Lydia "Now The One you Once Loved Is Leaving"
A/N: Well there you have it! This chapter took me a really long time to think up, and definitely took a lot of work to actually write down. Hopefully, you guys enjoyed this chapter, I know that it's a lot different from what the original was but I feel like this was for the best. I wanted this to be a little bit longer than it actually was but I felt like it would be awkward to continue writing with what I have in mind for the next chapter!
-What I'm trying to say is that I know this chapter was kinda short and boring, but I promise that future ones will be longer and more interesting! I just had to get this chapter out of the way and set everything up for future ones!
Leave me a review and let me know what you think of the story so far! Constructive Criticism is always appreciated, and please point out if you see any grammatical/punctual/structural mistakes in this chapter!
Like my work? You should go check out my other Fairy Tail fic: 'A Heart of Stars' (-Especially if you're a big shipper of Nalu or like the idea of Lucy being a Dragon Slayer!)
*Look out for the next update I promise that it will be better!
It's good to be back and I look forward to writing for you guys again~
