He no longer knew how long he had been locked up. Had it been only months are years since he had been sentenced. Would he ever get out? Even if there was the slightest possibility that he could be released, he didn't think he would want to leave. This was the place he deserved to be after all, Azkaban, this was his home for the foreseeable future, his penance, his punishment.
Draco slowly lifted his head as he began to notice the first rays of light starting to filter its way through his tiny cell. Struggling to get up, his body weak with fatigue, Draco eventually made it to his feet and slowly approached the window.
It's not really a window just a hole in his cell with bars, but least I have a view, he though darkly to himself.
Turning his attention back to rising sun, Draco stood and watched as the new day was ushered in.
So focused on his daily routine, of watching the sun rise that he didn't even hear the sounds of approaching footfall or even the sound of his cell door being unlocked and open.
No, it was the feeling of being intently watched that finally made Draco loss his concentration.
Slowly he turned around and came face to face with her.
She just stared at his, with a quizzically expression, her head angled to the side like a bird as she studied him. Appearing to find whatever she was looking for she turned toward the guard and said "Malfoy will be release into my custody, I expect him cleaned and properly dress by the time it takes for me to finish all the necessary paperwork."
Without waiting for a response she turned once again back to me, "Well Malfoy it's your lucky day, you're being released early."
I simply stared back at her in disbelief as a growing feeling of unease and dread began to spread though my body. How could I feel luck with Granger starting at me with eyes and a smirk that seem to hint that I should be feeling anything but lucky?
