AUTHORS NOTE: Just a short drabble to get me into writing again. One of my lovely friends blogged this quote on tumblr and said that it had made them think of me and of how it would be my idea of true love so obviously I had to use it for my favourite OTP because these two are true love for me.
DISCLAIMER: I don't own the character of Stuart. Glenn Chandler does even though he neglects him now 'sobbing face'
[A Book, A Bed and You]
"We would be together and have our books and at night be warm in bed together with the window open and the stars bright" - unknown
Curling up in the bed, Stuart nestled next to Ewan as he grabbed hold of the crime book that he'd borrowed from the library the week previous that rested on his bedside table before turning to smile at him. "Hey," he whispered and Ewan just put down his own book, a biography of a famous person that Stuart didn't know, and looked over at his husband, a smile on his own face as he leant in and pressed a kiss to the other man's lips. It was a simple kiss but one that still showed the love and longing they both felt for each other.
"Hey yourself," he commented back once the kiss had ended before moving to lean back against the headboard and opened up his book again. It had been a week since the pair of them had had chance to snuggle with each other due to Stuart having been working a big case with the team. The man hadn't even had time to eat so the idea of coming home to bed and snuggling with his husband was nothing more than a simple daydream. Stuart loved nothing more than just being able to lie next to his partner in silence and reading their books.
Snuggling under the duvet, he smiled at the warmth of both the duvet and his husband after having spent the last week grabbing a few hours here and there at his desk before opening his book at the last marked page. It had been a week since he'd read it but yet it only felt like yesterday. A comfortable silence washed over the pair as they read their books, a gentle draught breezed through the open window so that the room would be a comfortable temperature thanks to their duvets and the radiator that never turned off because it was broken, while the stars twinkled in their night sky.
Turning his page, Stuart sneaked a peek at his husband and smiled. Despite all the riches and possessions the two men had, Stuart was aware that all he'd need to make him happy was a good book, a comfortable bed and the arm of his loving husband wrapped around him to make him the happiest man alive.
