Endings are not supposed to always be happy.

He traveled across these lands even though they were forbidden. He communicated with the gods themselves, knowing the sacrifice. But she, his lover was killed prematurely. To straighten her fate, he would curse his own. Sixteen bests lied on the path before him, but he would not falter. The shapes they acquired were felled and left to slumber forever in their earthy graves. As he defeated each one, his love became more filled with life but his hair grew darker, skin paler and he limped with each step.

In the end he became the Shadow of the Colossus, using the power of Dormin. But in the same fashion as the giants were defeated, he was too felled and consumed. But the hope started when the love was returned and brought to the same place he was felled. Wander had reverted to the form of a small baby. They now lie within a small garden, hope growing each day.

And even though the beasts were gone, their hollowed shells still remain and their calls could be heard echoing into the winds.

Each day Mono watches the infant grow with a staff in hand, almost with tears. She knows she will pass before he grows to the right age. Horns forever placed on his head, he will not remember what troubles he went through. But she does not age; perhaps it is the curse that they talked of. So she watches and keeps him alive but hides herself away until he recalls the pain and suffering. Until the day he learns of his trails.

She will wait and pray.

The Time came years later.
The temple was blessed with the fair sunlit kiss, the rubble remains of the deities statues placed upon the ground. He had grown to the correct age, placing his feet into the area where once he had lived.
The horns since had become slightly bigger, looking like that of a goat. A faint glimmer was caught in his eyes with black streams finely lining the precious redness of his hair. He rested slightly before looking up with tears to see his love sitting awakened upon the platform he left her on many years ago. He almost began to run to embrace her, feeling the warmth of her body against his. Tears finally streamed from his warrior eyes, something so blessed and lovely was in his possession. "Mono." He whispered, "Is this really you?"

"Yes Wander." She said, a wet spot placed upon his clothing from her eyes, "It is."
Just then he felt something else besides her move within his grasp. His eyes looked down upon a small bundle of fabric held tight within his lover's hands. His eyes set upon hers as she smiled widely. "That curse let me live and stop aging until you were back to your own self again."
"But I am the Shadow. How did this happen?"
"I am not sure but…" She smiled and held onto him slightly, the two sitting on the stone steps caressed by the sunlight. "a portion of your soul was embedded within me and this, well he is the result."
Wander blushed upon seeing the blankets fall revealing a small, chubby infant male with horns sprouting from his nearly bald scalp. His whole body felt shaky as he proceeded to lift his son from her arms and cradle him in the sunbeams.
His heart glowed and mouth quivered as he kissed his newborn son. The new legacy to his heir, the one who would hold the pride of slaying the deities of the Forbidden Lands.
His son, with his love Mono.
Perhaps it was as fate should have been, perhaps it was a stroke of luck. But just as he claimed victory, Wander also claimed something precious. A family.
That day as he strode into the gardens on the temple, he vowed to protect them with his life.
