Inuyasha was sleeping in his favorite place: A tree. He looked quickly over the camp, his gaze resting lightly on Kagome for a fraction of a second more than the others. Finally satisfied of their safety he fell in to a deep dark sleep.

Suddenly he saw Narku standing right in front of him. Erie music started and he leapt to kill the evil man before him. But Inuyasha found he was stuck and couldn't cry out or move. He watched angrily as Narku started to sing and his demons surrounded him.

I was once the evilest bandit in all Japan.

Inuyasha awoke, sweating and looking wildly around. Kagome was fine as were the others and no scent remained of Narku. But the evil laughter still ringing in his mind made him feel uneasy. For the rest of the night he stayed on guard, sure Narku was coming. Than it clicked. This is what Narku meant, if he kept this up he wouldn't be able to fight.

"I won't let my nightmare come true, Kagome. I won't let Narku kill you like he did Kikyo."

He looked back around once and fell asleep with a determined snarl on his face.

"You will not die, my love. I promise."
