Starved
It was like a nightmare that came true.
Momo and Ryoma had been searching for hours. Both were tired from practice plus, the scorching heat from the sun is killing them.
Why are the restaurants closed? Both asked themselves why.
It seemed that restaurants suddenly did not exist at all.
A little girl who was eating a hamburger passed in front of them. Momo wanted it; Ryoma, too.
Finally Ryoma spoke up. "Momo-senpai, it's strange that the restaurants are all closed."
"Now that you say it, I'm really getting hungry!" Momo exclaimed, rubbing his stomach.
Wind blew on their faces as they slowly walked. Suddenly an old man came out of a store and was drinking…Ponta.
Momo and of course, Ryoma's mouth watered and they quickly opened the door to the store, but before they could open it, the sign changed from "OPEN" to "CLOSED."
Both gasped in outrage. But there was nothing they could do.
They continued searching for another fifteen minutes. Still, they kept on seeing people eating, wondered why they haven't seen a store or a restaurant that's open.
"Momo-senpai, I think we should go home now." Ryoma said as his stomach made a low grumbling sound.
Before Momo could speak up, his stomach too, made a low grumbling sound like that of Ryoma's.
To their surprise, a restaurant in front of them was still open.
"Heh. This one's open." Ryoma said as they quickly opened the restaurant's door and went inside to order hamburgers, and a Ponta, too.
"10 hamburgers, please. And 10 for him, too," Momo said pointing to his kouhai.
"Ponta, please."
"Echizen, we're really lucky we found this store's open."
"Right."
"I'm so sorry, but I can only make one hamburger," a woman in her middle twenties who was obviously the attendant answered them. "We cannot make enough hamburgers for you. We're about to close until you came in. If you have come here earlier you could've ordered all of those."
It seemed as if their worlds shattered.
"Really?" there was disappointment in Momo's voice. "Ne, Echizen, I think we should really go home."
"Che. That's what I've told you a while ago."
"You did? I didn't hear it." Momo pretended he didn't hear it but he had actually heard it.
"You heard it."
"I said I didn't."
"You did."
"Didn't…" Momo's stomach made a low grumbling sound.
Ryoma's stomach also made a similar sound.
Momo stared at Echizen who did the same thing.
"Mada mada dane, Momo-senpai."
Disappointed, they walked out of the store and when they got home, they found out that there were patties for the hamburger and there was Ponta, too. Lastly, their houses were always open unlike those restaurants. And oh, after that day, the same thing never happened again.
