Education is a big part of modern society and in Pakistan women have been denied even that small part of humanity on the basis of religious law by the Taliban. Nobel peace prize winner and author of the book I am Malala, Malala Yousafzai makes her stance clear. She wants education for women in the religious country of Pakistan.

In the world of education, religion has a lot to say in history. And women deserve to learn all that information, they are certainly intelligent enough for it for example on page 71 malala said "We liked to be known as clever girls. When we decorated our hands with henna for holidays and weddings, we drew calculus and chemical formulae instead of flowers and butterflies." Malala is an intelligent 17 year old and her stance is summed up in eleven words on page 75, when she says "How dare the Taliban take away my basic right to education"

The Taliban is the source of much of the biased laws due to gender, including the ones on restricted education. But what most people don't realize is that the Taliban don't have total control. On page 76 Malala says "the Taliban could take our pens and books, but they couldn't stop our minds from thinking" Which sums up nicely a general truth of the world, you can scare and brainwash people but the mind itself can not be controlled. One thing that is true not only in Pakistan and other third world countries but america to, a basic flaw in the human thought process. The idea that it is just not possible and dismissing something that others would kill to have just because no one had ever tried to stop you, on page 76 Malala admits that "we hadn't realized how important education is until the Taliban tried to stop us"

What people don't seem to realize is that even thought there has not been that much attention payed to women's education in Pakistan in america. There was a decent amount of coverage in Pakistan itself. During the early talibanization malala shares that "a group of girls gave an interview on ATV Khyber... about girls dropping out of school due to militancy"on page 72 . This statement makes me glad that Pakistan has always had an idea what was going on, america is just starting to catch up.

The human race would not be where it was now if it was not for education. Pakistan is struggling to provide a complete education for everyone so why can't we help? What could we change? Where do we start. Malala and her book are a guide and map, showing us what is going on and what needs to be done to help a country in peril.
