Despondency of a Shinigami
n.: a feeling of disheartenment

She watched as everyone she loved fell, not being able to do a thing about it. She had to stop him, ask him why he did it, why he left.

Clutching her side, she got up, ignoring the pain as she ran towards where she knew he was. She stopped as she realized he had disappeared. «Damn it, I can't let them do this. » Unsheathing her sword, she opened a senkai gate. She panted heavily, yet shook her head as she went towards the gate.

After running for quite a bit, thinking about what to ask him first, she started seeing light. It blinded her, and she fell onto the floor, filled with memories.

She stared at her fingers and realized it was her younger self. She looked up and saw a boy with silver hair. He had held his hand out to her, making her feel hopeful. They were together, until one day, he disappeared.

She opened her eyes in fright, her emotions now in turmoil. She had to make things right once and for all. Putting her hands onto the floor for support, she pushed to get up, but her legs failed her. She wiped the sweat off her face with a trembling hand. She reached down to her zanpakutou and clutched it tightly, gathering her strength. She got up in a flash, gritting her teeth as nausea invaded her.

She stumbled into Karakura, desperately searching for him. She heard voices, and came into the clearing, traitor in sight. She spotted grey hair behind him, and felt her heart tighten. She yelled at the humans to get out of here, trying to get them out of danger. She breathed in, and faced her enemies.

Next thing she knew, she was in the air. She got out of his grip, and landed on the roof of the building. She tried to hide the fact that she was panting, but knew it was futile.

Why do you always leave? Why do you never tell me? Instead of asking these questions, she opted with another, concerning Aizen and Izuru.

She shivered as he came closer to her, his grin still as sly as ever. She felt his breath on her hair, making it slightly move from where it was. His answer frightened her but she became more relaxed as he spoke her name.

"Listen, Rangiku... "

As she breathed outwards, remembering the soft smile he had offered her before his departure from Seiretei, the sadness he seemed to express at leaving her. She was brought back to reality as she felt something cool just below her neck. Her blue eyes widened as she saw the steel and the shinigami in front of her telling her she was in the way.

She stared to her right as her back hit the ground, blood covering her chest, her hair messily surrounding her. How she wished she could have sake in hand, to drink her way out of her worries. It was a beautiful day, yet she could only think of him:

Gin
