College sucked. Marinette knew it, and she's sure everyone else in her class knew it too. She was nearly 19 and studying fashion design. It had been her dream since she was young, and she was finally persuing it! But why did she feel so down? The work load wasn't overwhelming at all, but she still felt bummed about her assignments.
To Marinette, there was nothing that made her feel better than sitting in a cafè with her notebook and whatever pastry took her fancy that day. The smell of fresh coffee brewing set off a spark of creativity that made her motivated almost instantly. Not to mention, she met some very interesting people, far more than if she were cooped up in her room. Easily, hours went by. Sketch after sketch and note after note, until she was finally happy with her design, and the last sips of her coffee had gone cold. As she began to pack up her things and the darkness began to paint itself into the sky, the bell of the door chimed. A blonde man, around 5'8" walked in. He was dressed in a dark navy suit with a white dress shirt, tie slightly undone. His green eyes had a certain shine to them, that caused her to flush at the face a little. His face seemed familiar. Marinette was sure she had seen him somewhere before. She watched as the man ordered his drink, before walking up to where she was sitting.
"Bonsoir mademoiselle. May I take a seat?" The man cocked his head slightly, looking at the empty chair across from Marinette
"Oh! Uh, sure of course! No problem!" She tripped over her words, flustered. The man chuckled slightly as he sat.
"Adrian. Adrian Agreste. A pleasure to meet you."
"I'm Marinette! Marinette Dupain-Cheng! And nice to meet you too, of course!" Marinette blurted out, darting her eyes away from Adrians. He chuckled again.
"It's nice that someone's here, even though it's getting late," This caused Marinette to look down at her watch. 6:30pm. It was late. "Usually I have to wait here alone. Do you come here often?" Adrian asked with a smile.
"Ah! Yes! I like to come here to do college work. It helps me to get motivated! Plus the food and the coffee is really good as well…" She trailed off, before snapping back to reality. "Oh! What about you? Do you always come this late?"
"Yeah, I usually come here after photo shoots end to cool down and relax. What are you studyi-" Adrian was cut off by the barista calling his name. "Ah, that's mine. I'm afraid that means I'll have to bid you adieu. Maybe I'll see you here again. Bonsoir, Marinette!" He smiled, before leaving with his coffee cup in hand.
"Bonsoir, Adrian!" Marinette called after him.
Her heart raced that night. Even when she was in bed, warm under her covers, she couldn't get Adrian's face out of her mind. He was so charming, so handsome and so mysterious. She rolled onto her back with a huff, staring at the ceiling. "Adrian Agreste…" She mumbled. "Oh what a mysterious man you are..." She decided then and there that she'd be there once a week, 6:30pm at her favourite cafè. She'd be waiting for the mysterious blonde man with the shining green eyes.
