It's not often we sit back and think of the victims in the cases that we solve. Of course we see them as people who need respect but we do our best not to get involved in them.

Every so often one of us gets too involved in a case and not once has that ever ended well, but as soon as there's even a hint that it might happen the rest of us do our best to intervene.

Working in policing means we only get to see the bad and the victims of life and very rarely the good. Sadly you become used to the bad and forget that the good even exists.

It's the cases in which the victim is alive that are the worst because then there's someone to get emotionally involved with. You can see the obvious effect on those victims and if you don't get the result you were looking for it haunts the victim forever and breaks your heart.

The victims will always be victims though and at the end of the day we can try our best to help but they'll still be victims, we can't change the facts.
