A/N: Here's a one-shot of the Emily's happy ending. Hope you enjoy it :)

Emily Byrd Starr stared at herself in the floor length mirror. She was swathed in a creamy white dress that made her look ethereal and mysterious. Aunt Laura tucked tiny white roses into her inky black hair which had been pinned low at the nape of her neck.

"Oh, Emily, you look so beautiful!" Her blue eyes beamed up at her, admiring the blushing bride.

"I can't believe it's finally happening, Aunt Laura. Everything feels so right about today." In twenty minute's time, she would walk out of this room, and up the aisle to join Teddy Kent as his wife.

After so many trials, they were finally where they were supposed to be. Emily shuddered slightly, remembering how she had almost married Dean Priest. And Isle! She had been as close as Emily was now to being married to Teddy himself! Letting out a sigh, Emily turned again to her reflection, comforting herself with the fact that it was her now, not Isle. She would standing next to Teddy in twenty minutes, and nothing would prevent that. Especially not her pride or his.

Aunt Elizabeth came over, looking very stately in dark blue. "Emily, are you ready?"

"Yes, Aunt Elizabeth. I just need to put on my shoes." She slipped out of the comfortable slippers she'd been wearing as she got ready and placed her beautiful white wedding shoes on. "Alright, I'm ready," She said after taking a deep breath.

"Emily, dear, are you nervous?"

"Oh, no, I'm excited. I'm fulfilling my destiny. A person can't feel too nervous when they know it's exactly what they're supposed to be doing."

Aunt Elizabeth adjusted the top of Emily's dress slightly and said, "Only God knows exactly what you are supposed to be doing. But, I do think you've chosen a fine young man. I'm glad you're going to be settled and married at last."

All three women proceeded to the corridor outside the doors to the aisle. Emily wished desperately that Isle could be with her in this moment. She was her best friend. But, they both knew, as did the rest of the guests present, that it wouldn't be right to have the woman Teddy had almost married walking up the aisle right before the woman he was actually going to marry. Isle had been a dear, and had come up with some concert she had to perform in the same weekend as the wedding, therefore, Emily was able to invite her, knowing she would have to decline. Perry had decided to come though, and both Emily and Teddy were glad he hadn't let the business with Isle and Teddy get in the way of his invitation. Anyway, he hadn't jilted anyone at the alter.

The fifteen minutes seemed to go by forever for Emily. Perry was there, and he made Emily laugh loudly to help the time go by, only to earn a glare from Aunt Elizabeth. Soon though, she heard the piano start up the music, and both of her Aunts went through the doors on Perry's arm. Cousin Jimmy took her arm and they waited until the others were at the front of the church. The music changed, and she began to walk forward.

She looked up and saw Teddy, so handsome in his tuxedo, with his glossy black hair and sweet smile. Her Teddy. He was staring at her with such love in his eyes that she wanted to cry for joy.

Cousin Jimmy handed her off, and Teddy gently took her hand in his, drawing her up so she stood in front of him. They stared into each others' eyes for a moment before they turned to the minister, a secret smile on both their faces. Only they knew what journey they had been on to get here, and only they would share in the joy of, at long last, being united as man and wife as they should be.

Finally.

R&R, Thanks!
