A/N - What do you do when it's four AM and you can't sleep? Write a Destiel fic, of course!

This doesn't really have a plot. It's just Dean accidentally confessing his feelings and Cas reacting. Short and sweet.

Happy reading!

"Because I love you, dammit!"

It took Dean a moment to realize what he had just said. And when he did, he clamped his mouth shut. He hadn't meant to say it, but the words had slipped out anyway. He knew it was bound to happen one day, the words had always been there. Three little words perching on the edge of his tongue, birds waiting to escape the cage of teeth that held them captive. Dean gathered his courage and lifted his eyes to meet Castiel's gaze. The angel's stare was cold as ice and held within it no emotion. Dean's heart sank. He had experienced rejection before, but this, this was so much worse. His stomach twisted around in anxious knots and his hands grew clammy. His chest felt heavy and he couldn't breath, or wasn't breathing at least. His lungs burned for air but none came. He tried to swallow the lump in his throat, but his dry mouth wouldn't allow it. Castiel took a step towards him. Dean tried to back away but his feet refused to move.

"Dean..." Castiel spoke in his usual monotonous voice.

What happened next, Dean was entirely unprepared for. Castiel took his hand and laced their fingers together. He edged closer and closer until they stood mere inches apart. The angel leaned forward, then hesitated, as if second guessing himself. Finally though, he closed the space between them, capturing the hunter's mouth with his own. In the warmth of Castiel's lips, Dean felt all his anxieties melt away. With newfound confidence, Dean raised his free hand and ran his fingers through the angel's hair as he had done a thousand times before in his dreams - it was softer than he had imagined. Dean didn't want the kiss to end, but his dizzy head demanded oxygen. He begrudgingly pulled away from Castiel and drank in as much air as his lungs could take.

"Was that correct?" Castiel asked, just a hint of nervousness in his tone. "I must confess I know very little about how humans express their affections for one another."

"That was..." Dean murmured, still out of breath. "That was freakin' awesome, Cas."

"Then you wouldn't be opposed a repetition of the act?" Castiel asked, just a hint of a smile gracing his lips.

Dean shook his head and grinned, folding his hands behind his head, "God, this feels like a dream."

"I assure you, Dean, you're very much awake." Castiel said and then paused. "Dean?"

"Mmm?"

"I love you too."

"Come 'ere, you." Dean laughed, and promptly pulled the angel into another kiss.
