Lightning Strikes

Chapter One: The Storm
"Why do the clouds tease us like this?" Lana asked Clark as she washed her last plate. Lana was finishing up her shift at the Talon. "It's been like this all day."
Clark looked out at the dark, misty gray clouds hovering over Smallville. "At least we're inside."
Last dish!" Lana exclaimed. "I'm done."
"So can we go?" Clark asked cautiously and somewhat eagerly.
"Yep, I just have to go and get my coat and then we can go to Metropolis for pizza. I can't believe Lex is letting us use his limo!"
Clark could hear the pitter-patter of the rain as it hit the roof. He could see the splashes of water hit the sidewalk outside.
"Our night out might be ruined." Clark said bluntly.
Lana looked outside. "Great. Let me just get my coat in the back." Lana went down the hall and into the dark back room.
Clark had risen but decided to sit back down and rest his legs.
A young woman was outside. She was maybe around 16. The young woman was out in the pouring rain, her auburn hair matted to her face. Clark stared without realizing it. The girl was pretty with green eyes and an unusually tanned complexion.
The girl had a silver band on her finger. A green rock was embedded in the band.
The girl's name was Marissa Evans. If her father had known she was out in the rain with not even an umbrella he would be a worried sick. Clark turned his gaze towards the sky a shocking bolt of lighting danced across the sky. A loud clap flowed the flash. It was almost simultaneous, the sight and the sound.
Just then, Lana came from the back room. She pinned up her hair in a quick bun and then turned off the coffee machine.
"Let's go, Clark." She said with cheer in her voice, despite the heavy rain.
Just then a lighting bolt, so massive pounded onto the girl, Marissa. It knocked her in the side, throwing her through the Talon window.
A shower of glass, water and other debris pummeled the ground. Marissa was falling fast. Clark turned his back at top speed and pushed Lana out of the way of the debris.
He quickly sped to the young woman who was going to smack against the ground with powerful force.
He caught Marissa and everything seemed to go back to normal speed. The shards of glass hit the ground and a few fell on Lana, who was curled up against a stool. She was shielding her face.
Lana was shaking, Clark was breathing hard and the girl, Marissa was still in Clark's arms. Very quickly after that, Clark began to feel weak.
Clark looked down at the unconscious woman in his arms. There was the ring with a piece of meteor rock embedded in the silver. Clark almost dropped the girl, but with effort from within, knelt and laid her down on the floor.
"Lana," Clark ran over to Lana who was ok, except for a few minor cuts.
"What happened?" Lana choked out the words and looked over at the unconscious girl that lay among the wreckage. "The Talon." Lana buried her face in her hands.
Clark ran to the phone and immediately called 911. He was still feeling weak by Marissa's meteor rock, despite its small size.
