Hello all! I'm sorry that it's taken so long for me to post something, but school's just let out, so I have more time now. For those of you who read my "riddle" stories, "Daniel's riddle" is coming out soon, so thanks in advance for reading.

This story is a Daniel/someone else story. I hope you enjoy it!

It was different than the kind of love he had for Sha're. He knew that now. He loved Sha're. He loved her smile, her naïve curiosity. He loved her beauty, her personality, and her intelligence. Sha're held a place in his heart. He would always love Sha're, but now, he loved her too.

It was different. Daniel noticed little by little. The way her smile made him feel, how she wandered into his mind if he wasn't careful and sometimes when he was. The way she made him laugh or the way she looked when he got her to laugh instead. He noticed himself looking at her when she was in the room, missing her when she wasn't. He noticed how he felt when she gave him a smile, a mischievous look, a wink. More and more, he found himself considering things he knew he shouldn't. Things that would definitely confuse their working relationship.

He was in love with her. Daniel knew it. He had fallen for her and he had fallen hard. She was beautiful. Her eyes were the first things he noticed. Her emotions could be seen simply by looking into her eyes, no matter how hard she tried to hide them. Her smiles thrilled him. All it took sometimes was a smile and a wink to send his mind astray. She was brilliant. He loved her sense of humor, her passion for everything she did, her ability to make his day better without trying. The way she was kind, the way she always supported him, no matter how crazy or far out his ideas were. He loved her.

He wanted to hold her. To wrap his arms around her, to let her know how much he loved her, how much she meant to him. He wanted to be the one to comfort her. The one she loved. He knew she didn't need it, but Daniel wanted to be the one who protected her, the one with whom she felt safe. He wanted to kiss her, to love her, to never let go.

She would never ask him to forget Sha're. Daniel knew that. She had helped him through when Sha're had died. He loved her more for it afterwards, after he had realized that he was in love again. She understood him more than she knew. It made him comfortable with her when they became close friends. Just him and her. Maybe more? He didn't know. He hoped she loved him back. It seemed as if she did sometimes. There was always the silent restriction. So he said goodbye every time, left without giving her that goodnight kiss. She'd smile, with the look in her eyes. The one he couldn't read. The one that meant, if it was allowed, "I love you too."
