A Tribute to Finnick

I've never met a person

As pure and good

As Finnick Odair

I doubted I ever would

With sea green eyes

And a heart of gold

Finnick is forever young

He will never grow old.

His love was real

His heart was true

His soul was freed

We're stuck like glue.

Nothing can separate us

Nothing will keep us apart

I remember the first time I saw him

Dropping ten dozen fish at the mart.

District Four isn't the same

With Finnick gone

It feels like endless night

There will be no dawn.

His legacy lives on

His victory long forgotten

No one cares that he won the Games,

The horrible, the terrible, the rotten.

No, his true legacy to us

Is that he never gave up on life

When it beat, kicked, and pushed him down

He rose up to defeat the biggest strife.

Finnick is a flame

Burning in the hearts of others

He touched so many

His friends became his brothers.

His blaze burns on

Not extinguishing or declining in the slightest

It flares with hope and legend

And stands out among the brightest.
