Disclaimer: I do not own Phantom of the Opera.
AN: Ya know how at the end of the movie, Raoul see's the same rose that Erik would give Christine on her grave. Well, this is kinda like what Erik felt when he placed it on her grave.
His body was old, he knew soon his time was up. On his face was a flesh colored mask, which let him live among others. Erik stumbled across the old cemetery. Memories flooding his mind from many years ago. He had dueled with Raoul, who was ready to kill him. But Christine had intervened. A single tear fell from his eyes thinking of her. His body felt weak, he had to do this before his time was up. In his hand he had a red rose with a black ribbon tied around it. The same he would give to Christine. Only this one had the engagement ring that she had given back to him before departing. He held it close to his chest, as if to protect its delicate petals.
He finally made it to his destination. He read the tombstone it read 'Christine 1854-1917' his eyes filled with tears reading her name. His eyes followed down, his heart almost stopped when he saw her picture on the stone. He never thought he'd see this image. He read further, 'Countess De Chagny; Beloved Wife And Mother'. The hot tears stung his eyes; he could hardly stand.
He knelt down and placed the rose he held upon her grave. "My dear Christine…" he whispered. A soft wind blew, swirling around the leaves upon the ground. His heart ached; he stood up. Wiping away the tears from his eyes, he walked out of the cemetery. His last portrayal of love to the only person who ever showed him kindness. He walked back to his home. The one he had made after leaving the cellars of the opera house. He walked into his bedroom and lay on the bed. He cried once more as the images of Christine when he first brought her to his lair. Then of the image of her tombstone.
He couldn't believe she was gone. He cried so hard, his breathing came in short gasps. He heard a voice calling for him. He looked up through the tears and there stood Christine, looking as she did many years ago. "Come with me…" She said grasping his hand. He stood up and walked with her, "I love you, Christine." He said to her, she turned around and smiled. They walked back to the opera house hand in hand.
His chest stopped to rise, as he lay alone in his bed. His last words that no one else, but his Angel heard where, "I love you, Christine".
AN: Hope you liked it.
