Disclaimer: I don't own Gundam Seed Destiny. I wish I could and I can just quit school now. Haha.
Nothing's changed, eh?
The bed sheets were folded, the table and chair where they were, the tidy bookshelf…
If only we can remain the same too.
Athrun took off his white ORB military coat, shedding his green shirt underneath it at the same time too. He casually threw the clothing on to the chair and plopped down on the bed, face-down.
Athrun pulled a soft white pillow towards him and buried his face in it. Heaving a deep sigh, he thought wondered about the comfort of home, what he had missed during this time…
What he had missed…
Another sigh. He turned to lie on his back, staring at the blank ceiling.
He could not help but think back to the days they were together; the first time they met on that deserted island, their first kiss…
Slowly, he drifted off to sleep, in the comfort of his memories and his bed.
The door opened soundlessly and in stepped a blonde girl. Just as silently, she closed the door behind her. She walked over to the bed and looked at the sleeping figure of a blue haired youth of her age.
Worried that he'll fall sick sleeping in this cool weather topless, Cagalli took off her white coat and laid it over Athrun. Smiling to herself, she pushed a few strands of hair off Athrun's eyes. With a sigh, she sat down on the bed, her back facing Athrun.
"It's been a while, huh?" Cagalli whispered softly. "Since you left, I've made orders for the maids to keep your room just as it is," sweeping a glance over the room. "I know that you don't like things being disorganized and dirty, that's why I had the room cleaned daily… I've also hoped that you would come back soon…
"All this time that you weren't here, I… really missed you a lot. There were times I hated you for not being here, for not protecting me like you promised to. Only after I met you that day with Kira, did I realize that you've left me," Cagalli paused for a moment to stifle a sniff.
She reached into her shirt and pulled out a chain around her neck with the ring Athrun gave her attached to it.
"Even then, I had hoped that you would return. And when you finally came back, you were with…," her voice trailed off as she recalled telling Meyrin to take care of Athrun.
"I figured, it would be best for us, huh?" She gave a wry smile. Letting go of her ring, she leaned forward, head resting on her palms.
"Things are so hectic nowadays. Maybe, it really is better this way. I don't have the time… nor the luxury to…," She felt herself breaking down. Tears trickled in rivulets down her cheeks. Something seems to be tearing at her heart.
"I'm just so tired, Athrun," Cagalli muttered, her voice cracked.
Two hands came around her waist and pulled her backwards. Cagalli fell backwards into a hard chest.
"Close your eyes now. It is safe to rest. I'll be looking over you…," Athrun's breath tickled her ear as he whispered softly.
Cagalli heaved a long, thankful sigh. Athrun's strong arms held her in a tight embrace. She felt secure, safe, and loved.
She closed her eyes and leaned back into Athrun's chest. The familiar warmth was comforting, and she could not help but smile.
It was so good to be back in his embrace.
