"Promise Me?"
~Hikaru & Kaoru Hitachiin~
"Hikaru?" Kaoru's gentle voice called.
"Yes, Kaoru?" Hikaru replied tilting his head in such a way that his auburn hair fell into his golden eyes.
"Why is it that we pushed everyone away throughout our lives..? When we joined the Host Club, we thought it would be something temporary to stop us being bored for a few hours. But we're still there meeting new people, and we're still just as close. So why did we seclude ourselves?" Kaoru said contemplatively.
"We built that barrier around ourselves" Hikaru said, "At first, it wasn't on purpose. But every time we pushed someone else away from us, the barrier became stronger and we tried harder to make everyone stay away. I think the reason we built that barrier, is because.. we knew no one could relate to us." Hikaru had already come to this realization and needed to voice it too his twin, "We knew each other and no one would ever know us as a single item. We were 'the twins' or 'Hikaru and Kaoru'. But.. I don't mind it anymore. Bit by bit, we're tearing that barrier down."
Kaoru swallowed and smiled timidly, "You really think so?"
Hikaru nodded, "I know so."
"Thats good.." Kaoru sighed dreamily, "Can you promise me something?"
"Yeah.." Hikaru said.
"Promise that we'll always be together.. no matter what."
"I promise Kaoru." Hikaru said lacing his fingers through Kaoru's.
Kaoru kissed their intertwined fingers, "Thank you Hikaru" he whispered.
