"What Will I Do?"
Hikaru & Kaoru
"But when Hikaru...notices that he wants to take another step forward...when that happens... what will I do?"
It was a question Kaoru had asked himself before. The answer to it he was still searching for. What will I do?
"Kaoru!" came Hikaru's slightly deeper and more confident voice, "Are you alright?"
Kaoru smiled at him brilliantly, "Yes. I'm just fine"
"Good." Hikaru sighed, "I was worried about you. You're being very quiet today"
"I'm alright" Kaoru said again.
One day, Hikaru would step forward. Kaoru knew he would, he was always the first too do things. Kaoru was more mature, more timid and in some cases more intelligent then his twin but he let Hikaru boss him around anyway and be dominant over him.
It didn't really bother Kaoru.
Until recent days, it wouldn't take much to convince Kaoru that the two of them were inseparable. But lately he couldn't help but feel Hikaru starting to slip away.
Kaoru let a weak sob escape from his lips. He felt so vulnerable at that moment, and he didn't want to feel that way in front of Hikaru, so he tried to cover it up with a cough.
"You aren't catching a cold are you?" Hikaru murmured, sounding concerned.
"Nah" Kaoru said casually, "Like I said before, I'm fine"
Hikaru nodded and grinned.
'Maybe nothing will change and everything will remain as it is now..' Kaoru would tell himself but deep down he knew he was lying to himself. Hikaru would have his own life someday. Kaoru couldn't keep him away from that, especially if it made him happy. Kaoru loved Hikaru more then anyone, and to everyone else that was obvious.
His eyes teared up threateningly so he yawned, "Hey.. Hikaru?" he whispered.
"Mm?" Hikaru responded.
Kaoru paused and looked over his twins features. They were identical to his own and he'd grown to love them. The features of the one person he could rely on. The red hair, chalky pale complexion and warm golden eyes.
"C-Can you tell me something?" He said.
Hikaru tilted his head and laughed quietly, "That depends.. What is it?"
"Will you always be there for me.. Even if it turns out that one day.. we aren't together?"
Hikaru scoffed, "Not together? Kaoru, we're always together and we always will be"
"Are you sure?"
"Kaoru.. I know." Hikaru stood up, "Come on. We have to go meet up with the Host Club"
Kaoru nodded, "I'm coming"
Hikaru began to walk off, and Kaoru quietly took a moment to close his eyes and hope desperately that Hikaru was right.
