Just a brief "poemy" type fanfic, takes place at the end of the way of the Dragon and recounts Yamato's last moments *sniffle* I has a few spacing issues with the first half as I was in a hurry when posting it but I'll sort that out some time.
I DO NOT OWN ANY OF THE CHARACTERS, THEY ALL BELONG TO THE FANTASTIC AUTHOR CHRIS BRADFORD!
I clung on to the rope,
I felt it biting into my hands,
Vicious and unrelenting.
Below lay shadows,
And the cold, hard ground.
I felt another set of hands clinging onto me,
Like claws of a wild beast,
Pulling me down.
I looked up.
Jack stood above me.
Blue eyes wide.
Face pale.
Indecision.
The clawing hands of Dokugan Ryu moved further up,
He was coming,
He would kill us all.
'Help,' I whispered.
But Akiko?
My arms burned.
I couldn't hold on much longer.
Then I knew.
I knew what I had to do.
I knew what being a Masamoto now meant.
For the last time I looked up at Jack,
Saying my last words,
My final farewell.
Briefly I remembered how I used to hate him,
Now,
He is my brother.
For the last time I looked up at the sky,
The stars shone in the air,
Distant and cold,
Jack framed against them,
A dark silhouette.
One last breath of air,
Cold and sharp,
In the night.
On the wind,
The smell of gunpowder,
And Death.
Time seemed to slow,
As I closed my eyes,
And let go...
Wind rushed past me,
The ground come up to meet me,
Then…
All faded to black.
*sniffs*
