DC Elseworlds: Justice Society of America: Ubermensch

In Elseworlds, heroes are taken from their usual settings and put into strange times and places—some that have existed and others that can't, couldn't, or shouldn't exist. The result is stories that make characters who are as familiar as yesterday seem as fresh as tomorrow.

Prologue: 1920

Out on a German farm, a couple was working in the fields. The recent war had had a hard time on Germany, and it was in the start of a depression. The man looked up to the sky and saw what looked like a shooting star. Suddenly, the star crashed a few hundred feet away from the man. He grabbed his wife and they ran towards a crater. They soon discovered that the flying object was not a star, but a spaceship. Inside laid a baby boy.

"What are we going to do, Johann?" The man's wife asked him. "Well, Maria," Johann began. "We could take care of him. Raise him as one of our own." "What should we name him?" Maria asked Johann. She had always wanted a child, but knew that she had trouble conceiving. "Klaus," Johann answered. "We shall name him Klaus Kessler." And with this, the boy's fate was sealed.
