Another request from tate310, this time it's "A New Friend for Thomas" from Season 2. Enjoy and comment.

Trevor enjoys living at the vicarage orchard, but he feels lonely sometimes. Edward often comes to say hello.

"I do like to keep busy all the time." he sighed one day. "And I do like company, especially children."

Edward wanted to make his friend feel better.

"Cheer up." he said smiling. "Sir Topham Hatt is going to have a new harbor built and asked me to take you to meet Thomas today."

"I'll get to see children!" exclaimed Trevor

Thomas was on his way to the harbor with a load of metal pilings, which were needed to make the harbor wall firm and safe.

"Hello Thomas!" said Edward. "This is Trevor, a friend of mine. He's a traction engine."

"What's a traction engine?" asked Thomas.

"A traction engine runs on roads instead of rails." said Trevor. "Can we go now please? Sir Topham Hatt has a job for me."

"Of course!" replied Thomas.

Workmen coupled Trevor to Thomas' train, and soon they were ready to start their journey.

"I'm glad Sir Topham Hatt needs me!" called Trevor. "I don't have enough to do sometimes."

"But you don't run on rails." puffed Thomas.

"Remember that I'm a traction engine. I don't need rails to be useful." replied Trevor.

"Wait and see!"

When they arrived at the harbor, they found everything in confusion. Cars had been derailed, blocking the line, and stone slabs laid everywhere.

"We must clean up this mess." said Thomas' driver. "Trevor, you must collect the pilings needed."

"Just the kind of job I like!" said Trevor. "Now Thomas, watch and learn."

Trevor collected the pilings, and towed them into position.

"Who needs rails!" said Trevor cheerfully to himself.

Later, Thomas brought Annie and Clarabel to visit. Thomas was most impressed.

"Now I know how useful a traction engine can be!"

The coaches were full of children. Trevor gave them rides across the harbor. He liked this best of all.

"He's very kind." remarked Annie.

"He reminds me of Thomas." added Clarabel.

Everyone was sad when it was time to go. Trevor was sad and started to cry.

"I'll come and see you again." promised Thomas "The Vicar has plenty of work for you at his orchard, and we might need you at the harbor someday.

This made Trevor very happy.
