Race to the Finish
A/N Yes it's really, really short. It's just a little thing that popped into my head a while ago. Pretty, pretty please R&R
Yue and Ruby Moon flew as fast as they could over the black, sparkling city. They had had a… discussion (cough fight cough) and Kero had suggested a race to settle things, which was why they now flew as if their lives depended on it.
Far beneath them, two boys saw the figures streaking across the sky. "Hey look" The older boy nudged the younger boy. "I dare you to hit one of those birds with a stone." "Okay" said the younger boy, picking up two stones. "Which one?" "That one said the older boy, pointing at Ruby. The younger boy took aim and threw.
Unfortunately for Ruby, the boy had excellent aim. The first stone hit her wing leaving a deep gash across it. Crimson blood welled up on the black butterfly wing. The second stone hit her forehead, knocking her unconscious. She fell from the sky.
"Ruby!" Yue dived from the air to catch her in his arms. He landed beside the two boys. Holding Ruby against him with his left arm, Yue raised his right hand and ice shards flew at the ground near enough the boys to scare them but not near enough to actually hurt them. The boys ran.
Yue held Ruby gently against him and, spreading his wings, took off into the night sky. He flew swiftly towards Sakura's house, cursing in his heart those who had hurt Ruby Moon. He landed outside Sakura's front door where she and Kero were waiting for he and Ruby to finish their race.
The two of them started at the sight of Ruby unconscious in Yue's arms. Sakura quickly opened the door for them and Yue carried Ruby up the stairs and laid her gently on Sakura's bed. She remained unconscious. Sakura brought Yue warm water and he quickly bathed Ruby's wing and forehead.
She still didn't wake. "Wake Ruby please wake" Yue pleaded silentlyOnly now when she was injured and helpless did Yue truly realize his feelings for Ruby. He loved the other guardian. He slowly bent towards Ruby and kissed her on the lips. Ruby woke.
Yue felt her stir and pulled back but Ruby grasped his wrists and pulled him back down to meet her lips in another kiss. Sakura peeked around the door to see if Ruby was awake and saw the two guardians kissing. She backed slowly away. Maybe Ruby being injured wasn't such a bad thing.
