"Master Windu! Palpatine is the second Sith." Skywalker said excitedly. Not excited in a happy way, mind you. In an unhappy way.

Mace Windu was taken slightly aback at the news. Though he had no love for the Chancellor, the Jedi Master had never considered him evil. Nor powerful enough to control the Force.

But the Jedi knew that this was the truth. The problem was that all the Jedi who had faced Sith and lived were off planet or too young to take on such a mission. Mace thought of some of the most powerful Jedi he knew: Kit Fisto, Saesee Tiin, Agen Kolar...together, the four Masters should be able to handle any Sith.

Wait, Windu thought to himself. What am I thinking?

"Skywalker, go to the temple and gather all Jedi there. I will summon any Jedi that is not desperately needed at their current post. We will remove this threat, but first we must gather ourselves together."

Palpatine absentmindedly hummed a tune to himself as he walked about his office. The Jedi counter-force was taking longer to arrive than he had anticipated after revealing to Anakin his true identity, but he did not worry. The young Jedi was much too noble to withhold such information from his betters in the Order.

Sidious wiped his hand through some dust he found on the top of his desk and resolved to have the entire janitorial staff incinerated, living and robot alike. There was no room in his soon-to-be Empire for inefficiency.

The door chimed as it announced someone overriding the lock. He smiled to himself and settled into his throne. Chair. The throne would come later.

He could see the red boots of both guards that had been standing watch as the four Jedi pushed into his office.

"Master Windu. I take it General Grievous has been destroyed," he said, pretending to be on friendly terms with one of his most despised enemies. "I must say, you're here sooner than expected."

Windu reached for his lightsaber.

"In the name of the Galactic Senate of the Republic," the Jedi ignited his blade as his comrades reached for their own. "You are under arrest, Chancellor."

"Are you threatening me Master Jedi?" Palpatine knew the answer.

"The Senate will decide your fate." The Jedi seemed very confident.

"I am the Senate." Sidious let some of the hate drip into his words.

"Not. Yet." Sidious slowly stood. He dropped his own lightsaber from where he had kept it concealed in his sleeve.

"It's treason, then." The Sith Master prepared himself to leap into the midst of the Jedi Masters. Just then the doorbell to another of his doors chimed.

Oh, what is it now? Sidious thought to himself. Just as he finished his thought, ten Jedi entered through the second door. Another door chimed and admitted another twenty Jedi. Jedi filed in behind Windu, Fisto, and the others.

Sidious's confidence left him. He ignited his saber and slowly stepped toward the Jedi. He took a quick swipe at Windu - it was too short - and turned to flee.

"Notasforseen, notasforseen, notasforseen, notasforseen!" The Sith ran from nearly one hundred Jedi in his relatively small office, blocking sabers as he went. One Jedi took it upon himself to stop Sidious single-handedly. Well, that's how he was after Sidious cleaved through his left arm, anyway. The youth cried out before he brought his own lightsaber about and ended it halfway through the Sith's sternum.

The Chancellor croaked feebly once and looked into the eyes of his executioner, surprised to see young Skywalker glaring back at him.

Well, he thought, I guess that's how it goes when you are the most evil entity in the galaxy.

Then he died.

And things were good.

Except that Anakin was still in his whiny faze.

He would grow out of that, though.

Hopefully.

"What do you mean you're going to be a father?!"
