Sue quickly shook off her towel, and shrugged on her clothes. If she wanted to finally have a talk with Reed, now would be the best time (if any) to do so, and she didn't want to miss it.
After hanging up her towel she swung open the bathroom door, and stepped out into the hallway.
She spotted Reed not a few feet away, leaning awkwardly against the wall adjacent to the bathroom, mouth opening and closing a few times to try and form an apology for the previous occurrence; accidentally walking in on her in the middle of a shower.
But she would have none of that.
"Reed." She said firmly, causing his body to tense like a tightly wound spring.
"Yeah?" He asked sheepishly.
Sue crossed her arms, and shifted her weight to one side.
"We need to talk about this."
He held both his hands up in defense.
"I know, I'm sorry. I hadn't thought about sharing a bathroom before, I-I should've knocked before I opened the door, I-I was careless-"
"Reed." She repeated much firmer than before, patience waining by the second.
"Yeah?" He asked, tilting his head slightly.
"I wasn't talking about the bathroom."
"Oh..."
"I was talking about us."
"Us?" He echoed, dumbstruck.
"Yes, as in you and me. What we had-" She began uncertainly. "What we may still have-" She paused before correcting herself. "What may still be."
Reed shook his head, and held up a hand to silence her.
"Wait a minute. What about you and Victor?"
Sue scoffed.
Now it was her turn to echo him.
"Me and Victor? There is no 'me and Victor'. Never was, never will be."
"What?" His brows furrowed in confusion.
Was all the time she spent with Victor only for the purpose of making him jealous?
"And now," She said a little softer, taking a step closer to him. "I just want to know..." And another step.
Reed gulped.
"Know what?"
Now he wasn't sure what to expect. She could slap him; to make up for all those past dinner dates he'd foolishly missed in trade for spending longer hours in the lab working out their relationship's countless variables.
Or she could kiss him.
But for what reason? He would soon find out.
Underneath her facade, Sue barely managed to suppress a smile at the sight of the helpless, clueless Reed Richards before her.
Without another word, she closed the small distance between them, and exchanged a soft, intimate kiss.
Suddenly, fireworks were igniting in her head, and her heart was beating out of control.
A little while later she pulled away from him, and attempted to gauge his reaction.
"If there's still something there..." she finished breathlessly.
"Wow..." Reed exhaled softly.
"So is there?" He asked, appearing desperate to her once more since the year she had left him.
Sue nodded slowly, taking a few steps back.
"Yeah..." She said quietly, her eyes sparkling like a diamond.
"Maybe."
